Does the Oasys recognizes live playing, like identifying chords? If not, is there any software that does (via midi of course)?

No, the OASYS doesn't. Thats sounds more like an arranger function.

Although, Karma does recognise a chord you're playing in the context of what Karma is programmed to do with it.

Am afraid I don't know what software/add-on might do this - perhaps others do though...

Sounds like KARMA is exactly what your looking for and what a great tool it is for musicians .

I don't intend to use it as an arranger, only need to identify some chords I do in order to put it on paper.

Karma won't identify (ie name) the chords. It's all driven by g3 or c4 and f6, etc for notes on the keyboard.

It won't tell you that you're playing F#major4th, for example, resolving to to a neopolitan 6th (D major in F#) back to F# major.

There might be an iPad/phone app that could do that though...

I would plug the Oasys into a laptop and that's it.. I've been searching for software in the net, but can't seem to find anything proper...

This is not exactly true. Dependent on the KARMA settings, and I quote from the onboard help manual, "chord detection is affected by the following parameters: KARMA module's Key Zone, Transpose, Destination and Chord Scan and Smart Scan settings",

THERE IS OF COURSE A QUITE SOPHISTICATED CHORD RECOGNITION ON OASYS.

You have just to choose a program or combi where the above mentioned settings are appropriate for chord recognition, like for example the factory Program Nr. 001 "BPM Pulse" on Internal Bank C.

Now just touch the "KARMA-GE" tab (left of the "Ctrl View/Effect" tab) on the main page and you will find the word CHORD on the left upper part of the screen. Now press some chords and the chord symbols will appear next to the word CHORD, like for example A7#9#11 or Daug#9, etc.

So KARMA IS able to identify complex chords and to display the according chord symbols properly, in almost every case.

It only works with karma on. That's something.

After almost 48 hours without sleep, I made my previous comment to complicated. As you wrote, it is finally simply enough to turn KARMA on, to see the according chord symbols to the chords you play...

Yes, the Oasys identifies the keys you are playing and appropriately writes the name of the chord on the screen, so you can see that as reference

Oh and its nothing to do with Karma, its just a function of the Oasys software.

LOL! Have read it once, trouble is (at my age) by the time I get to the end of the manual I have forgotten the earlier stuff!

Once again I learn a bit more about the mighty O, so thanks for correcting me everyone
