Oasys fell from stand - replacement parts needed.

Hi All,

In the middle of the night the stand supporting my Oasys 76 collapsed
and the poor keyboard fell about 1 meter.

Mercifully the keyboard still fully works, and it seems to have
missed all the vital areas (front panel, screen, keybed, etc.)

On the way down however it suffered a few knocks and therefore I'm now in need of some replacement parts, namely :

1. Left and Right hand triangular end caps (silver) (scuffed)
2. Silver aluminium 'ribbed' section at rear of Oasys (dented)
3. Right main output jack stiff and intermittent. Plug does not
want to go in smoothly.

No.3 worries me the most. The jack socket is soldered into what looks like a very expensive PCB which serves all the input/output socketry on the lower section of the keyboard. I'm really hoping that replacment jack sockets are availble seperately because to junk the entire board just because one jack socket has failed seems terribly wasteful.

If anyone can help with the part numbers I'd be eternally grateful.
I will order the parts straight from Korg UK.

I think you may need a much more sturdy stand considering the expensive gear it holds. Please man.

Feel for you. Hope her bruises and scratches can be fixed soon.

Just shows, you can't take anything for granted - including stands. Am now looking carefully at mine! #paranoid

#1 and #2 and easy to paint/repair. #3 can be repaired pretty easily and if not, can certainly be replaced pretty cheaply/easily.

Consider yourself lucky. There are a lot more critical/expensive items that could have been damaged.

Thanks for all your messages guys.

Korg parts UK were *extremely* quick in responding to my request, and all but one of the parts were in stock (RHS end cheek, will follow once in stock).

Order has been placed so they should be with me fairly soon.
I'm a qualified tech so I'll be doing the fitting myself, thus saving on the labour.

The stand was a double-braced Quicklock, not a cheap one, the Oasys has sat on it since day one, the locking mechanism just sheared, looking
at the metal it appears there was some defect there.
Before putting the unit back on it, i be will modifying it with several more
large nuts and bolts, thus preventing any recurrence.

dave r, thanks for sharing.

I also use double brace Quiklok's. I always thought that the sprung pin which locates to hold the stand at the desired height must be very strong. Maybe it ain't as strong as I thought. I will be having a look at the pins and adding additional support as you have indicated.

Stand is rated to support a load of up to 90Kg, so naturally I believed there should be no problem as Oasys 76 is 25Kg.

Good news is the first shipment of spares arrived today from Korg.

Bad news is there are currently no Oasys RH side panels in the UK, (they're currently on back order) so take great care of yours guys!!!

Hi Everyone,

Just a follow-up to this thread, today I received the final part for my Oasys today, one of the plastic caps that sits either side of the top of the touchscreen - the right hand side one was 'chipped' when the synth above it fell on the Oasys.
That part no. 500646099600 (CAP KOC-E40641). is now discontinued and no more will be manufactured. Korg (UK) have ONE more left in stock!
The right-hand side plate 500641041888 (side plate RHS) also took
many months to arrive from Japan, presumably due to the troubles they've been having out there.

Whilst it is unlikely that anyone else will ever need the screen part, let's hope this isn't a prelude to other, more vital parts becoming unobtainium!

I cannot stress enough the importance of caring for your Oasys, especially if you intend to keep it for a long time.

I have taken steps to ensure this can never happen to my Oasys again.

I guess you are 'lucky' (or less unlucky) that only some/most outside material has been bruised. I can imagine a new LCD costs a lot more.
