Kronos Flight Case

I'm now much closer to getting a Kronos 73. I feel the need to get a flight case. I'm not even considering gator because I heard the straps snap keys. Also I heard somewhere that foam can become brittle and break off and go into the keys? Is this true? Here's what I've found so far, though the a&s case is not happening. Too exPensive.

That's the molded case right? I'm looking for the ones with metal ends and sides like in the links

No, that would be SKB. The latches tend to break too. Then TSA has a habit of locking the TSA locks all the time. Make sure you are carrying your spare key.

I want Korg's flight cases. They look pretty decent and hopefully the prices will be better than SKB's.

I wont be flying much but I want the best protection so TSA locks don't really matter fOr me. What do you think of the pro stage gear one?

Check out Roadrunner cases. Good price and very solid case. A bit heavy but good. I use one for my M3 73. Gig every weekend..

I will go ahead and suggest the first link you posted, from A&S case.

I personally have delt with them in shop, Art Arras has to be one of the nicest guys ive ever known.

But besides the fact that when you go into their shop (which as you can imagine, has flight cases for desk and making there coffee..) they are nice guys, when you see the quality of case they make... you KNOW. YOU f*ck*ng KNOW. your keyboard aint getting hurt even a little. I personally own cases for all of my instruments from them from one time to another... My rack case is A&S, its pretty lightweight for half inch birch, shock mounted, and all that good stuff.. i could carry it myself if it wasnt so huge. But i mean you could drop it off a plane and you better believe it will survive!!!!

I am already in contact with Art to make the case for my K61. Of course, him being a korg user himself, he knows exactly what needs to go into making a perfect case for it. You need to understand that the most vulnerable spots on your keyboards are the parts that pop up. Each case from them is custom built to your keyboards spec, if they dont know what to do, they will ask you to bring the board in so you can get the foam cut right. What hes doing for my K is cutting slits in the top foam for the joystick, vector joystick, row of volume and realitime knobs, all the faders will have to be in the UP position and cut a slit for those, a small dip for the rotary jog wheel, and of course a small one for the tempo knob.

When these things are pressed down, they can break solder joints, and your K will start acting up very badly.

I hate to sound like a huge advertisement, but believe when i say these guys are the best around. They wont just make a case that fits the body of your keyboard, they will make a case that completely protects every single component of it. I will NEVER change case companies.

I have used A&S since the early '80s. NO ONE makes a better custom fitted case...period.

Yes they are expensive. But if I do end up getting the 73 or 88 Kronos, I'm spending the bucks. I will have never spent that much on an electronic keyboard in all my 43 years of buying gear so when it goes out for a gig, I want max protection.

I'll probably go with their super light "flyweight" materiel.

Actually Randy is a she and yes she does do the custom stuff. She gave me a quote on my CP5 in the "flyweight" materiel. It was expensive. At the time I got the quote I was on the fence about keeping the Yamaha and now a almost a year later I still have it..lol.

Anyway, I have an older, discontinued Yamaha YBS882 bag. I was using it for my CP300 to keep the weight down. For the time being it's is working out ok for the CP5. When and if that tears, I'll probably go with the A&S case for the CP5 unless Yamaha comes out with something comparable and lighter.
