What would you rather have?

Would you rather have:-
1) An EMX and an ESX
or
2) 2 ESX's along with a decent synth to help make keyboard samples with?

As someone who has both, 2 samplers: no doubt. Would trade my emx for an esx without a hesitation.

esx + emx > esx + synth in my book all day.
had an anesis micron (picked it over the micro korg due to multiple record/sequencing options) and as powerful as the synth was i just couldnt get into the keys. so wish i would have picked up the emx instead. you could always plug in a controller to the emx. it prolly boils down to if you can play a keyboard/piano already. if you can then keys may be what you want if you cant then i think that you will be able to do more on an emx than a keyboard (opinion)...

I've never had the pleasure of playing on an ESX but the idea of it really appeals to me. not being able to play keys (yet) I find the EMX a bit more user-friendly for me when working with synth. for the sampling side of things i can always use my SP404 or my MPC (when it finally arrives) tho in terms of the rather cheap sounding and limited drums on the EMX i'd probably prefer the ESX over it in that regard. and if u're not getting the sounds u want out of the EMX u can always use it as a sequencer with another synth, especially if u dont like the rigidity of working with preconstructed synth samples.
as my first piece of gear, i am really thrilled with the EMX's capabilities and i've learnt more from it than i think i would have if i had gotten an ESX instead.
comes down to what u are using them for and what u are trying to achieve as well as personal preference.
I vote option 3) EMX + ESX (or similarly equipped sampler) + synth

EMX.
I have a laptop with Ableton Live on it, plus a Machinedrum MDUW mkii so I have no need for my ESX which sits in it's box
anyone offer a trade?

Thats a tough one. I had my EMX a year before i got an ESX. If i had got both at the same time, i would have definately said the ESX as i found it far easier to get the 'sound' that was in my head, sampling and re-sampling cool drum loops and mashing everything up.
I know the EMX inside out now and think it is the better machine but a bit of patience needed to get the best out of it and the drums are not that hot.
For instant results and cool id say get an ESX.
