Oasys 76 for sale

Post by Duke »

------------ SOLD -----------------

Sorry for the duplicate post over in the Oasys section.
This is where I should have posted.

I'm selling my "Like New" Oasys 76 for $3500 or Best Reasonable Offer. I will include an ATA Custom Flight case which is what it will ship in AND a motorized "Solid Stand - Freedom" stand with it.
(See http://www.solidstand.com/index.php?pag ... &Itemid=23 for more info on the stand)
The OS is version 1.3.3a and the only modules NOT installed are the MOD7 and EXS3 Brass and Woodwinds. I have the CD's that were shipped out early on for the EXS3 but never purchased the auth code for it as well as the MOD7.
Also installed is 2 GB of memory and the EXB-DI digital interface board.
The EXB-DI adds both optical and coax digital in/out capabilities.
Buyer pays shipping from area code 48310.
Approx weight without stand = 100lbs.

Why am I selling it?
Definitely NOT because of the new "Kronos".
(I just heard about the "Kronos" by visiting the forum to post this today)
(Am I out of touch? Yup!)
I got the O new when it first came out in 2005? with the intent to learn keys but I've never had the time so it's been idle for over 5 years with the exception of interfacing with it via USB/Midi and my DAW.
I would like to free up space in my home and need to sell it to make room. It's that simple.

Some background info:

I proposed, pioneered and developed the animated Oasys Virtual GUI you may have seen on the Korg website and submitted the idea and a sample of it to Stephen Kay (Karma Labs) and Jerry K. (Korg). I worked along side with Stephen when only 5 prototypes of the Oasys existed. I had been following the news of the Oasys before it was publicly available and came upon the Karma Labs website. Looking at the static screen shots of the O's menu hierarchy that Stephen had on his site at the time, I saw the possiblities of making it more realistic buy creating the animated and interactive GUI which would allow the viewers to "test drive" the touchscreen display for themselves online. Stephen saw the sample I submitted, liked it, and put me in contact with Jerry K. after which began the long, eye grueling, sleep depriving, and late hours of taking 100's if not thousands of screen images and putting them into Flash, animating it and compiling it to load and run reasonably quickly. It turned out to be a HUGE undertaking but Stephen had access and knowledge of how to get the screen graphics from the Oasys display and I knew how to roughly program Macromedia's Flash software and create various graphics for the buttons and knobs which were used to make the Virtual GUI. I tutored Stephen as to the in's and out's and tricks/quirks of Flash's programming syntax and he quickly picked up on the programming aspects used in Flash and hence was born the Virtual GUI. As Korg made updates to it's expansion sets dor the Oasys, the GUI needed to be updated as well. Since I never had access to the OS or source code for the O, Stephen had to perform the updates to the GUI that you see online today. Stephen has long since removed my name (Bob VanDamme) from the credits on the GUI itself but that's OK. It was a great experience to be able to work with Stephen and Jerry K.

My Oasys stands here as a reminder of that experience but alas I need the space.
The memory will always be with me.

If interested, PM me for further information.

Bob
