Envelope Follower

Do you want to use it with a guitar, a bass or a voice? I recommend a Compressor/Gate.
Recently I've got a DBX 166XL Compressor/Limiter/Gate and, thanks to it, I trigger the EGs, the Mod Seq with an incredible accuracy.
I think the gate is what gives me the accuracy: the release knob is in the fastest position, and the threshold is a little bit above the threshold of the trigger in the Envelope Follower of the Radias.
Good luck and enjoy your R3dias!!

Hi Diegombass, sounds excellent! Can you say with a bit more detail how you integrate the compressor to trigger the envelope follower more accurately?
How, does it sit in the signal path, what kind of settings are you using on the compressor... and please post up some mp3 samples and patches!

I'm not the best bass player, and I didn't want to be in this video.
I just wanted to show what radias can do as FX processor with a compressor.

Thanks for sharing!
You say "The envelope follower of the Radias works fine, but If you process the signal before you put it into the Radias, it will work better" - why is that? Does the compressor make the signal sharper and more defined, give it more of a distinct envelope?

"3: Response [000…127]
Specifies the time over which the audio is converted to
envelope data.
With lower values of this parameter, the rise and fall of
the input signal will be detected quickly.
With higher values of this parameter, a slowly changing
envelope without a sense of attack will be detected."
Response of the EF, in the owner's manual.
I think the compressor helps to define those "rise and fall", I have to set the response lower than without compressor. Other thing that helps on the fall is the Gate, with this you can put a little silence between two notes, and it makes the EF to retrigger a note.
Good luck
