Sync Ableton 8 to Korg Electribe SX with E-MU XMIDI 1x1 Tab

Hello,
Can anyone offer some advise on how to sync Ableton 8 with a Korg Electribe SX using the E-MU xMIDI 1x1 Tab cable? I have a laptop running a quad core, Windows 7 64 Ult, 8 GB RAM, 500 GB HD and I cannot for the life of me get Ableton 8 to receive or send MIDI signals through the E-MU xMIDI. Ableton "sees" the E-MU, but no matter what preferences I select no MIDI is sent or received.

Thanks

Have you set the esx midi channel and checked its midi filter settings?

Without info like that noone can help you

All the info you need should be in the manuals

I read the manual, but not good enough;). I have the MIDI channel set for 10 on the esx, and I will read more about the filter settings.
Thanks.

The MIDI filter settings (PCEN) did the trick, thanks for the RTFM reminder.

i dunno the immediate answer but i found ableton did not like being sync'd to the electribe. I had better results slaving the drum machine to ableton, but this screws up the start stop on the 'tribe, after a little remapping it all works great.

I think channel 10 is a bad choice to sync Midi stuff. As in midi it denotes the drum channel, where every note is another drum.
