Microstation PC Editor Won't Let Me Name User Presets
Just bought a new Microstation. I think the editor is the best way to go when editing whenever possible. It all seems to work rather well however I have tried and re-tried several times whenever I try to save a preset in the user section or any section with the editor all get's saved but when I rename my preset or just name an INIT one it will not for the life of me save the name. It saves the name of the preset thats already in the prog/combi etc.
I haven't contacted Korg support yet about it. I've only had it for a few days and this is the place where I've read the most discussion about actually using one. Might be a bug in the software or the synth OS or maybe just mine which is why I'm asking.
Anybody else have this issue?

Yes, I managed to save a preset name once using the software editor and haven't been able to do it since, I spent some time on this on Sunday, finally gave up and now name the presets on the Microstation, I don't understand this at all.

i would suggest to check the size of the filename cause in the manuals says that you can have ONLY 24 chars filenames.
and anyway each time you use UTILITY/WRITE it brings up a place where you can give whatever name you wish and where to save. This does the trick no need for special rename function. write is also rewrite / rename.

Good points. The name(s) I was using are like 7 or 8 characters and I used the Utility /Write procedure which I think is the only way to name and write a preset within the editor other than save/export/transfer/receive?i would suggest to check the size of the filename cause in the manuals says that you can have ONLY 24 chars filenames.

the export/save only creates file in your PC the only method to write something into Mstation is write. the receive/transmit used just to synchronize the data between the editor and the MS.
though i see a possible problem with the rename function provided for user arpeggiator the rename doesnt work ?.. i ll check when i ll be at home.
work around for rename maybe use the write function from within the MStation and receive the data in the editor again.
and as the manual also comments as best practice, is to copy something ready, to a new location (namet it e.t.c.) and then start editing it.

Hey thanks for your input. Yeah for now the only way is to use the microstation itself to name/rename. Everything i try to do within the editor utility function save name/rename/copy all aspects work except the saving of the actual name. All the program parameters get saved. Same if I start by copying a program/combi to a new location and edit. The only part about it is the naming. Weird.

Hi, just thought i would mention - I have the same problem too! everything else seems to work fine through. But yeah no matter which way i do it, i cannot get preset names to save - as mentioned, i can only edit the names on the actual microstation.
Also does anyone else know if you can rearrange patches in the editor? eg. swap the order of presets? i can't seem to work out how to do this..
Yeah a dedicated microstation forum would be fantastic!

Mac suffers of the same problem
I am using the X50 Editor with a Mac and I am having the same problem: can't rename programs or combis via software. It's a shame to have to resort to the cumbersome text tool in the keyboard when you could save a lot of time doing it via software.
KORG, HELP???
KORG, HELP???
Not sure if this helps but I noticed in the RADIAS editor software that when you click to edit the name the information isn't actually saved until you hit the ENTER key.
