trick for instant note range change

Post by Bowmoney »

so anyone with a kpro has probably realized that you can place multiple fingers on the touch pad and you will the note that is directly in the middle of all the points

i have found it to be a great tool in reproducing the same pattern over and over, because you can get a much finer touch this way

essentially, if you have your finger on the far left and keep the note held down, you can start a finger on the far right and your scale now only has 8 notes, because it is taking the note in the middle of the two points

so essentially, it is an instant way to reduce the note range to 1/2 the size of what you have it set on with the note range function

the kaosss touch pad is also very sensitive so just shifting the weight between yours two fingers produces nice easy to repeat intervals

maybe everyone knew this but i thought i would throw it out there...the krpo has become much more of a multi-touch tool for me rather than just a single finger tool

yeah - but it's not accurate to call it "multi-touch" as it's still only responding to a single input position, that just happens to be the average of two or more physical positions

sorry for being pedantic, but "multitouch" has a specific meaning and the kaoss pads specifically don't do that :)

"Multitouch" only has that specific meaning in the context you're perceiving it. :P

Bowmoney could just have meant it in the sense of touching the pad mutliple times.

Though it's not multitouch, it's still a handy technique.
Maybe we can coin a new term for it.

Anybody?

Touch Averaging or Average Touch are not bad.

How about single-touch resistive touchpad?
averaging of two points like that is a typical characteristic of resistive touchpads. I think...
Or I could be wrong and it could be capacitive.

I was thinking more about naming the technique
of using two fingers to perform on a non-multi-touch pad
to get those handy averaging results.

I vote "touch averaging". It certainly sounds like a mean technique. :P

Or should that be median technique... :P
