hi all, I know this is my first post here but I'm ready to chuck this board under a bus! so I had to ask some other users if they have had the same issue. My M50 is freezing, that is to say when I turn it on it starts up ok but will not change voice it wont change from program to combi nor will it let me change the voice from the default M50 piano, this is one of the problems, the second one is a constant "updating of left panel" and "updating of right panel".......this is message i get on screen, then it asks me to turn off.....when I do that and turn it back on it goes through that sequence again and again, tonight 7 times on stage before it worked correctly.
Again I'm sorry my first post is negative but I am a long standing Korg user.......M1...T3....O1W....Trinity.....M50 I have had zero problems with my other boards, I downloaded the current version 1.1.0 software and installed it yesterday to no avail.javascript:emoticon('')
Tks Philip

This is becoming a very common issue of Korg m50. Its a bad capacitor that causing the problem. If you have warranty Korg will replace the capacitor. Or else you have to pay your local technician. Best of luck.. :(

I´m very sorry, but it seems to be a hardware problem. Take a look to other posts. Kimu had the same problem. Use this information to convince Korg´s technical service that they have been udes a poor quality item in the unit in the earlier serial numbers.

Tks Akmon, I've been in touch with the retailer who of course would not say too much about korgs attitude on this kind of thing, it's gonna b shipped to the uk ( at my expense) and I have to wait and c from there.
Tks again

Very bad for Korg. It´s assumed that there is a problem in the earlier units, nothing related to owner´s usage. As in cars when something is wrong, they send letters to each owner to take the car to the nearest check point and fix it without any cost, in warranty or not warranty. It´s the same case, then.

it turns out to be two bad capacitors to be changed by korg tech assistance.
mine was in warranty so i have nothing to pay for the service.

unfortunately i have no tech sheet saying which are the bad capacitors...

Just talked to a tech today at Korg uk and they are fixing my M50 for free he only added that the problem had accured a few times and he had fixed them at no charge, so, he was prepared to fix mine for no charge. He did make a point of adding that this was not a recall of any description ! I should have mine back in 10 days or so. Thanks all of you for taking the time to write a reply and offer your addvise

I'm pretty sure that since Korg discovered that the caps were bad out of the factory, warranty should be a non issue.

When you get yours back, ask if they'll give you the details of which caps got replaced. Would be very helpful.

freezing up m50

Im glad someone posted about this problem. My m50 (61 key) has been locking up too. It started just here and there, until showtime this past sat. 6 times I restarted it only for it to freeze. then that updating left panel, or side came on and luckily it didnt do it.I got the warranty, called the warranty company and they'll help me out, sending it to be fixed.
Also, something else is happening. When I hook up separate monitors, left and right, the sound is way off balance. Right side has more power, but when I hook up just mono through the PA, it's balanced.weird! :(
Maybe its just a few of them with the freeze problems? I got the 61 key special edition (yellow)

Exactly Mc; they didn't issue a recall as they should have because, as a Company, they are CRAP.
Those capacitors should be replaced for free, regardless warranty status.

I have a Sony Walkman video/Audio player. The cable of the headphones (in ear, noise canceling, superb quality) became hard/brittle. Yesterday I found out that Sony recalled GLOBALLY those headphones for a free replacement...now, that's a responsible company.
