Portable speaker for PA2x?
Hello, I've already made a post about this in the audio/visual section of forum but have had no reply, so i thought I'd try my luck here. As you all know the pa2x does NOT have built in speakers like the pa800. I was wondering if somebody could suggest a portable speaker or something suitable for the pa2x. All i need it for is just once a week to take to a music lesson to a students house. So it doesn't have to be all that loud etc, just had to have reasonable sound and be convenient enough to transport.
Thanks.
Thanks.
There are too many options and difficult to choose any without knowing bit more. I use powered studio monitors (about USD 200) and recently added subwoofer. Comparing to size and weight of Pa2 portability is not problem
The type is not relevant since they are out of production anyway.
For music lessons also simpler solutions may go - like computer speaker set or powered monitor or some cabinet speaker etc. Depends on your budget and availability - what you can easily get at your local music shop. If you are thinking ordering online, then of course budget is main constraint.

Guzicar,
For a reasonable piano sound you need a pair of compact 10 inch speakers and 150W at minimum IMHO.
A pair of Yamaha StagePas 300 speakers with built in mixer/amp are pretty small, half the weight of the Pa2x, fit in a suitcase trolley bag, and give a decent sound, at 499 Euros. It's what I have.

Or you could go for the compact "The Box" solution at 399 Euros. I've not tried this, but it's Thomann's own brand and they are the largest music warehouse in Europe.

you have a great keyboard.. don't get toy speakers. If you get overpowered speakers ... don't worry, you'll find a place to crank it up.

here's something thats small anyway. You can just take one of them to the lesson, but the stereo signal and the panning and autopanning of some tracks and instruments is a great feature for which you'll need both speakers.
search powered speakers on Ebay. Make sure they're powered or you'll have to carry an amp. then be careful setting up. don't have everything all cranked up before you fire up your keyboard. I have a EMX200 powered mixer from Yamaha and for a lesson I just bring a floor wedge in. If I was going to buy some, I would get a couple hundred watts a side. If you get a gig in a big room you'll need it and you'll have to go get it. Those little ones look pretty cool though and they're only a hundred bucks a pair.
good luck.

Thanks for the replies guys. I probably should have mentioned that I already have a 3000w PA systems with subs etc set up in my home haha. I really just need something so when i take it t my students house I can get some sound from the pa2. I might try the PC speakers. I didn't really wanna spend more then $200. $250 at most.

Do you still get a decent bass end from these or do you really need a s/woofer? I have been considering the Stagepas 300/500 but was sure if the bass was going to be enough (for playing styles primarily)
Cheers

Pete,
The bass response of the StagePas 300's is pretty good but not good enough for the bass guitar player who has his own cab/amp. Everyone else in the band (2 guitars and 2 vocals plus my Pa2x and M3) is routed via my Yamaha N8 mixer to the StagePas 300's. Drummer is loud enough by himself! That's all we use at pubs and clubs for up to 200 people. For a major venue above 500 people it's inadequate of course.
The StagePas 500's are also a good buy and would give acceptable low end response for bass guitar players I think.
Regards,
Rob

Thanks Rob
So do you think the Stagepas 300 would be suitable for live PA2Xpro style playing (i.e. suitable for drums/bass from the PA2X). I need something portable to play the PA2Xpro through plus 2 vocals. Guitarist has his own gear.
Thanks
Pete
