Hello everyone,

I´ve got a totally messed up korg er-1 from a friend and now I´ll try my best to fix it. Following Picture shows the issue:

As you can see F1, IC5 and (maybe) C39 are missing. Don´t ask me, what went wrong with these and who demolished the pads, i don´t know but what i want do know, does anybody know what type these components are? I didn´t find any datasheet or service manual yet. Maybe someone with a screwdriver takes a look into his own ER-1 to find out something of IC5, i would be very grateful.

thank you,

Pierrot

You might have trouble getting someone to open there machine but for what its worth here is my input:

C39 looks like it is a ceramic surface mount capacitor like C9 in the picture.
look at the "1206 Ceramic range". Do not know what value though, but it looks like its in the power section so it will likely be a similar value to C9.

IC stands for Integrated circuit, there isnt anything there that looks like it has enough conenctions for one, is it on the underside?

What about C29 + C55 should there not be an electrolytic capacitor in there? Is there any dry solder on the underside that looks like something used to be in it?

To me it looks like there never was anything there. No solder marks or anything.

I may go open up mine and have a look, but it is quite common to see unsoldered component markings, especially when the same formfactor or board is used in multiple products with different purposes. I even see it on many PC peripheral cards and motherboards, switches & routers, synths, mixers, etc.

What is 'messed up' about it operation wise?

EDIT:
sorry, did not see C39 and IC5 specifically. Looks like there should be a voltage regulator or some other kind of small IC - they usually have around four pins. I thought you may be more concerned about C29, C55, and the like - which I think do look like there never was anything there, as per my initial post.
Also, my ER is a MK I, but I do have an ES1 MK II here, not sure if they are very different.

Hi there!
Can PierrotHammond re-post the board pic?
I have the same problem.
I've just bought a second-hand er-1 mk2 with some damages in the power section, but I can't understand if some components are missing or never used in this kind of machine, like:

L9, C35, D4

as you can see here:

Thanks in advance!
