Hi all,
here is the voting for the RPC#002
This time the number of participants doubled. Sincerely I expected some submissions of the "veterans" here. Maybe the challenge is to easy for them and I hope the next task will get them ot of their holes
Well at least I hope there will be more votes this time!
Poll will be open until next Friday near this time
If you want to rehear the submissions then go here:
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/ ... ffb3b72116
The winner will be posted in this poll

My vote was for Charles. He managed to make four sounds for this patch and with a little finetune and effects(something like hall to create an open ambience) it would have been unbeatable!
@tpantano: come on, you could have done it better if you had put some more effort on it, true?

I guess, but making sound effects isn't.... fun.

Well maybe you won't see fun at it. But for example, what would heve been Kraftwerk's "Autobahn" without this funny "car passing by" sounds, Telex's "Moskow Diskow" without the "chu-chuu" or J.M. Jarres works without the sea shore ambiences?
What about "Star Wars" without these laser sword, R2D2 and drone sounds or "Alien" without that motion tracker's blips and beeps? (btw: would be a good task too!)
The fun shall be in the challenge itself. If the sound is useable or not depends of what are each ones interests and it never will satisfy the entire spectrum.
Im sure that if Owl City, Daft Punk or whatever actual "top" group brings out a hit that uses such an old, simple or "silly" effect, one of the most questions will be how to get/create that sound.
If you think this is too easy and want harder challenges then be patient, they will come

It's a shame !!!

Hi all,
I can understand the low number of RPC submissions due some not liking the task, too busy, vacation or whatever else reason.
What I can't understand is the low number of votes! I can count more than 30 users posting in the latest topics of this forum but only 8 votes were given for this round.
I think clicking on a vote after hearing the task sounds (for sure more than 8 had done it) is no effort at all.
Should my next poll be about stopping this challenge or not?
Maybe I am just to impatient and all of you are just waiting for tomorrow to vote at the last moment. In that case I apologize!

Hmm.. maybe an additional poll should be done to select between several tasks. Any suggestions for tasks here?

just an idea,
maybe make a crunchy/distorted mono instrument (lead bass etc.) using only pure sine waves (osc 1, osc 2, sub-osc sine, but no DWGS sines)
we could create a midi melody that theyd have to run their program through, and we choose the dirtiest sounding sound

i agree with tpantano sounds cool, aswell as outlined ideas for the contest. i would like to see a patch swoap and change, were one person makes a sound then offers the patch up to the next user, were by thay change the patch to there desire then pace it on. with this it will compile a libary of patchs which can be voted on and used. dont no just a idea like.
plus i would like to put forward a idea for a sound.
as crazy as you can get, using all the functions. formalted kaos so to speak. as out there and spacie as you can get. order with in disorder.
but only use two timbre so the r3 users can join in if thay like.
look forward to CharlesFerraro's ideas for the next challenge.
plus well done for winning RPC02

I don't think we need to vote on what the question is going to be. But perhaps the winner should agree it with whoever is actually running the competition (axxim?). I actually like the way it is progressing, I just haven't had the time to participate in the competition other than voting because I'm still living out of boxes at this point

Well, to be fair with the next winner (Charles?), the next task should be on his hands. After that we can change the modality.
If read well you rather want a style for the task to be defined, instead of a specific sample/instrument to be replicated?

In my case the boxes with the PC and the Radias would be the first to be opened

Congratulations Charles for winning RPC#002
You may set the task for RPC#003.
I personally prefer the winner to be who rules the next task as a kind of acknowledgment, but this may change for the following ones depending on what the suggestions will be.
So Charles, your statement please?

Very impressed with Charles' entry. Excellent varying/dynamic seagulls, and the ship's horn was the cherry on the top.
