ive got my KP3 hooked up to the FX loop of my Rane TTM56 mixer.
basically when i use the wet/dry fader on my 56 i get coloration of the sound even before activating any FX from the KP3. there are toggle switchs that turn the FX loop on and off or each channel. when the FX are turned off on a channel the coloration goes away (if wet/dry fader is on at all).
Rane is known for their world class sound quality. as is korg. so which unit is coloring the FX loop?
opinions...?
KP3 and Rane mixer FX loop issue

You have to set the KP3 to Send rather than Insert (Direct?) mode. I think that's the little switch on the back.
Send mode only outputs the wet (effected) signal, whilst Insert (Direct) mode outputs a mix of the wet and dry signal, for when connecting in-line with a synth or other source.

The 'colouration' is occuring because the dry (unaffected) signal is passing through your KAOSS pad and back into your mixer when operating in Direct (Insert) mode.
So because of the slight delay caused by the KP3, you are causing certain frequencies to cancel out. Is it too hard just to try it and hear for yourself?
When connecting through a 'send' and 'return' connection you should use this Send mode. Direct mode is only for use when connecting inline (e.g. between the source device and the mixer).
Effectively the mixer return and send controls take care of the dry/wet mix for you.
