Cheap sampler, or just a sample playbacker thing...

Post by zulixia »

Basicly, i seem to have discovered a high need for a sampler...
but im on a real tight budget since i just realised my list of wants for the next 6 months...

PhattPants
Halo Reach
Xbox Live
Festival Ticket
Sampler

so if anyone got any reccomendation for just a dead cheap sampler, no flashey bits on it, i dont really need to edit sounds either since i got Mini KP for that stuff, just something so simple that can play back a voice like that classic " Sweet Sensation " or " so i can get my...satisfaction "

So in short something that does just this
- Save a sound file, voice file, and play it back when i press a button.
- No editing needed, just plain o'll play back.

surely something like that aint expensive ( Note: i am a student )

I just think you havnt even started to find the depths within the mx , after 1 year or sumthin ?? .. i have had my mx for 6-7 years , and in that time ive used ALOT of more flexible software ... but i always find new things with the emx1 and get hooked on it again .

its obv personal choice , but why dont you just spend 40 quid on good tubes and see how you suddenly have more freedom ?

Its not alot of money , but it makes ALOT of difference ...

I'd say a Roland SP404 (or the newer sx model) is what your after. I would have recommened an MPC500 but all its extra editing/sequencing features would be overkill for the things you want to do
www.myspace.com/jaystaylomusic - www.youtube.com/jamesallan87

MPC 2500 - Miniak. Korg R3 - Ms2000br - EMX sd - KP2 - Kaosillator.
Ableton Live 8. Pro Tools 8. Genelec 8030s - KRK R6 G2s

its like a hundred bucks more for the 500 though too... when i got my first piece of gear i was really thinking about getting the 404 or the mpc500. part of me wishes i had gotten the 500 and the other part is glad the path i took. the 500 has the better sequencer but if he has the mx already and it just looking to sample in the mx and kp and just get jiggy with it the 500 would be more complex that necessary..

yeah def the sp 404 is golden for what you're describing, its what you want and so much more! also theres the sp 303 and 202 which you may be able to find used for real cheap... another good one is the zoom sampletrak st224

ps dont sell the mx the combo of one of those with a sampler is dope

I decided not to sell my MX...it just has some eeriness about it...and it has my mass effect 2 Lower Afterlife remix on it, and i don't have the heart to get rid of it, cause its my only nearly finished good song...i think i can have the patience to wait until christmas for a sampler...however

1) What are these new vaccum tubes we are talking about, where do i get them? How do i put them in it, etc etc...i'm assuming there is a thread somewhere about it.

first post on that thread links to an earlier thread about which tubes to choose
