Load just 1 midi channel in seq mode?

Hi,
Is it possible to load 1 midi channel in Sequencer mode, without deleting the the tracks that you already have there?
Specifically, I have a song that already has a bass on track2, drums on 3, & just want to load midi channel 1 (of a midi file) to track 1 of the song, while keeping what I already have on tracks2+3. Is this possible?
I've tried loading the midi file in Media mode to the song, but it deletes the other tracks
EDIT: Found 1 way to do it:-
. Load the midi file to a new song
. in RPPR set the correct length of the pattern
. in RPPR copy track to pattern then > copy to pattern
. Go to the original song > RPPR > copy to pattern then > copy to track
I'm away from the M50 at the moment so some of the wording may not be perfect. Any1 else got a quicker way, do tell..
