I want to contol Ableton Live and I noticed a lot of its functions can be controlled with keypresses to move the active cells about, but can all the buttons on the M50 send midi out, and can the virtual faders of the display send midi out ?
Or is it only available for the 4 knobs and drum pads?
Thanks

My suspicion is no, most things don't send MIDI unless explicitly programmed to do so (i.e. setting one of the switches, knobs, or drum pads to send MIDI out in a particular program), but I'm not 100% sure, and I have no idea what the touchscreen does. You could check the MIDI Implementation appendix in the Parameter Guide to be sure.

You can use almost all your physical buttons to send CC message but not the touch screen. I have tried this so many times in so many ways but failed...

You'd have greater control by combining the M50 with a dedicated controller for Live. For example, the AKAI APC20 is designed specifically for Live. There are others as well:
Controller Hardware For Ableton Live
You can set up both the M50 and the second controller to manipulate clips in Live's session view.

Yep, I was thinking of buyin the Novation Launchpad.
Using the Lanchpad for triggering stuff afterwards, but using the controls on the M50 to navigate and transport functions while I record loops with the M50.
I dont have much desk space and the APC seems rather and bulky.
