I purchased the M50 in feb 09,,i barely use the system ,in october 09 i was working on a track and the locate button broke off into the m50.After i got it back from repair the repair man said that i was being too rough with the system,i took it into consideration ..being that this is a hands on workstation i honestly figured it was a defective problem on korgs behalf..i went to the guitar center on 14th street in new york city ,,checked out the m50 demo, and guess what ?!! the locate, and the start/stop button was broken .2days ago i was working on a track and..again...the locate button broke off into the system...wtf is going on with this system ..so its back to the repair shop again..yesterday i visited the guitar center and they had the m50 special edition on demo stand and 2 be honest all the buttons seem better supported ...i honest believe thats theres a defect in the regular system,,its no wonder why they offer a 2year warrenty on the system ..please!!! if anyone is have these problems please speak on cause im getting pissed and thinking about selling it once its fixed, because this is not suppose to happen on a hands on workstation .

Extremely weird. Never happened to me in almost a year and I use that buttons constantly.
They are in fact very sturdy buttons that show no sign of wearing out since I bought it.

I have the 61 key version. My guess is that they have some broken units.

Make sure the repair guy makes a good job.

If you felt like going to break again, then they might just have glued the broken part back and didn't replaced it. Definitively take it to another place and never bring back things to that repair shop.

The keyboard freezing issue isn't button related. It's a common trait with the M50 that Korg has not fixed. I'm not even sure if they have acknowledged it though it reported time and time again by users all over the world. It's been over a year since we've seen a firmware update.
Let me guess, you have the M50-61?

I've had the M50 61 for a year and never froze on me. I think the freezing issues were related to foot pedals of some sort, and brand?
I also would like this to get clearified.
In tek's case, I hope it's not related to technical service leaving a loose connection or something.

thanks for the info, we should take care with that button!
After long day of use, it's easy to press harder and harder on them! the buttons are quite stiff to start with... IMO
tek, does the locate button feel the same with others before it breaks?

I have a similar problem. The Locate button fell in the keyboard AND the station freezes up. It was every once in awhile. However, tonight it keeps doing over and over again.
