Is there any way to see/edit the inner workings of the factory multisamples ?

I was wondering because in the wave-sequence step parameter page there is a column for adjusting the start offset of the multisample. It says each wave in a multisample can have up to 8 different starting positions... Is there any way to see/edit what those starting positions are ?
