Hi,
I recently bought a Korg Prophecy to complement my MicroKorg XL. I was thinking of doing a little 'live' jamming session by syncing the arpeggiators up. Although I know how to sync them together, what I don't want is for arpeggiator type settings made on one synth to be reflected in the other - I just want the clock synced. Is there something I should be aware of for this to work the way I want it? If I used the MicroKorg as the master, would the setting GLOBAL POSITION PRE TG do the trick as this midis out before the arpeggiator? Or would this setting not send a clock signal at all?
I need to go out and buy some midi cables which is why I haven't actually tried this out yet!
Thanks in advance.

Not sure, but it should be pretty much just plug and play. You might have to filter out note data depending upon which direction you're sending in and you might need to check the OS version on your Prophecy because there was some midi sync/timing issues in the older OS versions.(2.0 is the latest version and there are some 2.0 eproms on the bay right now!)

Hi there, stair wrote:Thanks. Checked the OS and it says 18 (presumably 1.. Will see if the arpeggiator works ok before I see if I can get a 2.0 chip.
I was curious how you are doing with this. I have version 1.6 and am not sure if I should upgrade to 2.0 or not. Are you having any arp sync issues?
Thanks!
Jim
Hi Jim.
Sadly I am having sync issues with my 1.8 chip so you will almost certainly have them with your 1.6. This makes any sort of live performance impossible. If you're recording with a sequencer it's not too bad as you can just repeat recordings until it syncs properly (it seems to sync ok in roughly 1 in 5 attempts!). There are 2.0 chips on eBay but unfortunately having removed the cover on my Prophecy I notice I have an earlier model where the chips are soldered directly to the board - I don't trust myself with a soldering iron!
