Hi,

Just got one from ebay. And i'm keen to load my own stuff on it.

Can the electribe take SM cards that are bigger that 64mb?

When it talks of 150 secs mono sampling, is that on the internal memory- or with the SM card?

Is the smart media card just a means of transport of WAV from a computer to the electribe, or do you have to keep it in to play your 'homemade' samples.

It's just i'm using it live and would ideally like to be able to use samples in quite a few songs, and i'm a tad confused!

Actually on the ES-1 you get exactly 198.3 seconds of sampling time, the memory is saved internally on the ES-1 using flash memory.
And as far as I know a 64 MB card is the largest card you can use, than again Ive never tried anything larger!

I keep getting the Er-8 message, meaning it doesn't recognise the files on the smart media card.

But they are in Wav which it should accept- what should i do?

they have to be 24, 16, or 8 bit...they have to be named 00-99.

This is what I have done. Clear everything off the electribe...clear one patter A01 comepletely....this is a pain but worth it, now write to A02-B64. Get them all CLEARED.

Hit Global, SAV, SAV it in the 1 slot....now repeat this for the 9 slots available. You now have a completely cleared elecribe.

Now load up the first set of samples you want to use onto the media card. Insert it into the tribe...

Hit Global, Lod, ES1, or Bank 1....now hit global, scroll all the way to the right to make it say E. You have to load the samples one by one and save them one by one.....once this is done hit Global, SAV, save it for bank 1.

Now bank one has all your custom samples.....clear you media card, load up new fresh samples and do the same for BANK 2...repeat all the way to 9.

Now you have 9 banks loaded onto the electribe full of your own samples...have fun

Wow... sounds like the instructions for installing dos on a 386 (sorry bad analogy)

Talk about waaay too many steps to do a basic task

I really hope korg steps up the data transfer department on their future (if any) machines.....

You got to give Electribe ES-1 a break. Korg Electribe ES was released about 10 years ago. Loading samples on Electribe ES-1 is rather simple for old machine. Once you get it, it is easy. Let's face it, you don't have to use Zip drive, no SCSI headache, like Akai MPC in the same era...

Does anyone know if there's a way to use bigger cards i contacted sandisk today and they said they dont make small xd cards now

i'm pretty shore all the small enough ones on ebay are fake

Any ideas of a way to make a big one look small so the es1 will use it

or anyother ideas about this ppl

I bought all of my 32MB XD cards from ebay sellers. I have 5 32MB xd cards.
Just get a few used xd cards (max. 64MB, but 32MB card is just fine for me) through ebay and you'll be alright.
