Nanopad connections

I really need some help. Please!
I've written to Korg more than once, and never got a reply. I posted here more than a month back and got no responses.
I have a laptop with XP Pro and the software, the Kontrol editor and the rest that comes with, refuses to see the Nanopad as being there. But the computer recognizes it as being plugged in which is most puzzling. And I have no idea how to fix this problem. I did everything according to the directions, at least 4 different times.
I bought this Nanopad so I could take it along with me, looked like lots of fun in all the promo videos. And since lots of people are using these I just don't understand why mine isn't.
Maybe some setting in the computer I need to change? Or something that wasn't in the instructions I need to do?
If you know anything about this problem Please share.
Or might you know a way to get through to someone at Korg?
Anything you might know could be the answer I need.
Thank you
