Arpegiation problems

First off, thanks for all the good info on this forum. It's saved what little hair I have left.

My problem/question is about arppegiation, as in what am I doing wrong.

I have split the keyboard in 2 sections and applied a bass patch to the left and synth to the right. I can play both at the same time. Next, I set the bass to arppegiate a full octave on the A channel. It works great by its self. when I add the right side the arppegiation stops the full octave and switches to a single note played at half the speed of the setting. It does this no matter what setting I use on the arppegiation.

Should this really be done with the sequencer?

The problem is that you have to set the keyzone for the arpeggiator's input.

if you think about it, currently the arpeggiator is picking up what you play in your right hand, and including those notes in the arpeggio, but they are out of zone for the bass sound. so it plays them, but nothing sounds because none of the timbres assigned for the arp (in this case, just the bass) are in that range.
