songplay

Post by Jerry Maclay »

I bought my PA800 this past December & I like it very much. I have had in the past, 3 of the Technics, 5-6 & 7000 & the Tyros 2 and this Korg is my favorite. I have spent most of my time putting my songs for my little gigs into the songbook. When I first got the keyboard I pressed songplay and noticed on the screen what is shown on pg53 of the user manual. I now want to get into the songplay feature but am unable to bring up the songplay feature up onto the main screen. I've tried doing it thru the sonplay button and thru the seqencer buttons and pushing sequencer play on the main screen to no avail. I'm hoping somebody knows a shortcut to solving this so that I don't have to go thru the business of saving material and initiializing the keyboard. I want to buy
the MP3 Board & the video interface (VIF4) but not until I solve the song-
play thing, I stopped at a couple of guitar shops & also called the New York help center but some didnt' know and the other never got back to me.
Appreciate any ideas or help. Am presently in Palm Springs area is you know anyone in that area that could help. Thanks, Jerry Maclay

Hi Jerry, welcome to the Forum.

Do you have midi files loaded onto your USB Stick? Whilst in songplay mode you touch the screen in ply1 or ply2 which would take you to your storage usb to find your midi file. :?

Thanks for your reply. I think we are not on the same page. When I press songplay, I do get the songplay mode on my screen but when I go to punch scq,. 1 or 2, I do not get the scq. song selection as shwon in example 2 on page 53 in the manual. That window shows back up, midi file, canyon, mysun, nightDay but I can't get that to show. It has a hint as you can open the song select window by pressing the seleect button in the scq. 1 section on the control panel. This doesn't work either. I'm trying to solve this problem without having to download my work in the songbook section and having to go to factory reset.
Hope this is a little clearer of this problem.
Thank you.

Hi Jerry, sounds like a backup and a reinstall of the OS and resources to me. Could be wrong of course but obviously something is not right. :?

Jerry

I'm not sure how you have saved your songs into songbook. However what I have done with the PA800 is to save a load of midi files onto a memory stick (using my computer to do so) which I then insert into the USB socket on the PA800. By pressing songplay mode and one of the seq panels on the screen and then selecting the USB-F rather than the SSD-U at the bottom of the screen, I can get to see the contents of the USB file and I select a song from there.
The standard songbook on the PA800 can be accessed by pressing the songbook button but this consists solely of a bunch of styles. What I did was to save those styles onto my PC, then delete them from Songbook and then use the Songbook Editor software to load my midi files into Songbook instead. This is complex and there is both software and guidance notes on the Korg website showing how to use the Songbook Editor system. See also Media Edit Mode in your manual.
