Post by sts »

Im always thinking why Korg have choose the smart media for storing on the mx and sx machines....on the ES 1 i understand cause there was nothing more on that time but with the new machines i think this cards are dificult to find, no more manufacter do them, so they became obsulet!

Cheers

SMC cards are hard to get in general retail stores, but online stores such as ebay still sell the cards. Have a look around it, last time I checked the ebay site, they were plenty going around, and that was at least 2 months ago.

Althought smartmedia is toshiba proprietary technology, reasons for using it with the electribe series, is beyond me. Then again, I suppose they had to use something.

Hey Pedro,

There's a pretty good alternative to using smart media cards...

What you need to do is get a smartmedia->xd adapter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... _-20163403

It's only 4 bucks....

Then you gotta find an xd memory card that is LESS THEN OR EQUAL TO 128 mb in size..... 128mb is best.

Good luck!

When I was looking for smart media cards for my ESX the cheapest I found was:

http://www.mymemory.co.uk/SmartMedia/Sa ... patible%29

New smart media 128 mb for 21£ or ~24€. I never bought any though because a friend gave me 2 64 mb cards for free.

I think thats the best tip, just ask around everyone you know, all the people at work etc. Ask if they have an old digital camera at home just laying around and ask them what card it used. Someone will have it and you will get it for free or very cheap!
