New sounds

Post by musselasse »

Pa2x is a top keyboard, but there is two sound that I think must be better.
Why can´t someone make a new sample on sopran sax and flute??

So I can make the modulation on my one.
When I play with the flute the vibrato comes by itself, whwn I don´t want it...

And the Soprano sax Must makes much more realistic
Much more brillians
It´s seems that Korg have the same sample of this since I30

Sample a new one
Soprano sax sound nice, but not on Pa2x and the older machine..

Sorry for my bad English..

Hi Musselasse,

i can follow exact close to your posting - - - but i did some "hands-on" ...
feel free to download sounds and sets from (english translated link)

http://www.tbleck.de/h2-keyboard.htm

Enter Section SOUNDS / SOUNDSETS ...

My Panflute is made of ROMs only (and it will GIVE YOU AFTERTOUCH - RESPONSE !) ...
In the Saxset there are some SAMPLES included ...

Best of all: First HEAR my Sounds / Soundset ...
With the Saxset you will even be able to REVOICE a Style-Track using an E-Piano !

best wishes TBLECK from Germany

Hi Musselasse, I can heartily recommend Thomas's work. I feel the same way about the soprano sax, not real at all on pa2x. I generally blend it with another sax and it's then OK.

You can buy Sharp's Irish Flute ? Maybe that one is great for you ? Also tweaking the sound yourself could help you.

Not happy ? Change it and welcome to Korg ;)

Hi gang,,,
Well, this subject is dear to my heart as the kind of music I play requires very high quality solo voices for nice slow music...with lots of notes HELD.

I love the PA2, but there are many of the samples that are not so good. Things like varying vibrato speed and varying timbre NOTE - NOTE is way too much and ruins the performance in some cases. If you play as example hip hop...you will never hear the issues.

So, Yes, the answer is for Korg to fix this, but they cannot replace samples in the PA as they are in ROM chip. Unlike the M3, which usees RAM (EEPROM?) to store samples so they can fix/replace any bad ones or just change for the better.

Like Macboy and others have said...our current answer to some better sounds is to make them ourselves! And we have.

Making your own...very high qualit sounds (especially if you need new samples) is not so easy for most of us. So why not buy the souds (Sharp ect) if it fits your needs AND also.....for the ones of us that want to and have or want to learn the skills to do our own LETS DO IT!

I have been very busy with a construction project and moving...BUT, I'm ready to do some sounds now. In Sept. I am traveling to one of our forum guru's home for a visit and hope to learn a lot while I am there.

IMHO the PA2/Pa800 is the very best offered today...and it has a lot of superb sounds in it...for the ones we don't like Korg has given us a way of doing our own...that's one BIG thing to me as to why I love the Korg...flexibility to do many things I want.

Now, I just have to spend more time learning how to do all I want.

I have actually converted samples from my Kurzweil, and created a few sounds with some success on the PA2. I would share them but since they are proprietary samples I feel I must only use them for my use.

So, My biggest challenge is to find the samples I need to make the sounds I want. Anyone with ideas....let me know. I don't mind paying for them if they are what I want.

A VERY GOOD example of what has been done is the current effort by Sharp (of course he has done others before) on the new Irish Pianos...they are supeb IMHO.

These efforts are complex and take lots of time...IMHO we should support the efforts of anyone doing this. If it is a commercial effort...why not support them, and if it is a volunteer effort...many thanks are in order.

Keith,
Actually it is really cool the folks now doing sounds themselves as compared to a year ago. You have been a leader in this, others also have done there own sounds.

I have a few I really want...just need to get organized.:-)

Keith,
Don't have a list yet, but I'm workin on it.

Off had...any orchestrial solo sound that is not right on the existing factory sounds. Let's see, Sax's, Flute's, Violins, some of the horns, and I would like super vocals & choirs, better clarinet.

I'll be more specific when I get a chance to review the sounds again.
Some time ago, I actually made a pretty complete list of he sounds with issues and it did go to Korg PA.

Maybe I'll start with it.

Probably won't have near enough sample RAM to do all I want to. So, I may have to just pick a few sounds that I need most.

Thanks,
Lee

Hi Lee, have you tried the sound edits that Thomas did and posted on his website. Some of the Sax sounds are particularly good..... :)
