I heard the rumor so i had to research it j-dilla one of the greatest hip hop producers ever used a korg esx 1 its in his studio pics.J-dilla passed away a few years back produced for some of the best hip hop and r and b artists janet jackson a tribe called quest erika badu common the group slum village the group the pharcyde the brand new heavies and many many others his style changed hip hop music and he rocked a korg esx 1 along side an akai mpc 3000 the best drum programming hip hop producer check his past hits search j-dilla or slum village(fantastic voyage is the album) his work with the rapper common was outstanding lush synths soulful baselines the man lived and died for music working on his last album from his hospital bed he died nearly broke but lived for his music he made songs that could bring tears to your eyes not many knew he used an electribe esx-1 i had to tell it for all you esx 1 owners doing hip hop and not getting the respect u should for not going the drone mpc route hold your heads up cause j dilla did!!!!!!

Yeah...I had heard that dilla rocked an ESX. He was definetly a great producer, up their with pete rock, Primo and Dre.

But yeah....Akai as a company, currently seems to be on its deathbed due to its Quantity over Quality approach to its newer machines.
Ever since roger linn left that company, theyve been milking his designs for all their worth :lol:
