Hi Folks
I've had the Tyros1 for sometime now and I feel it's time to upgrade.
I'm very keen on the Korg Pa2x Pro having checked it out in a music shop . My difficulty is that I listened to on headphones and although I was really impressed I would like to hear it in a gig environment.
Heres the big question, does anyone on this forum play the Pa2x live in the Dublin area or within 50 miles of Dublin city.

On a similiar line of thinking can anyone who has experience with both a PA2x and Tyros3 please explain the pros and cons of getting one or the other.
I currently use an Oasys88 for recording purposes but am looking at possibly a Tyros3 or Pa2x as a composing aid.

I cant compare the Tyros 3 and PA2X but i would offer my qualified opinion on these terms
1. The Tyros SA voices are unmatched as yet by any other arranger and i dare say any other work station . Period. even yamaha motif XS owners are crying out for the T2/T3 Sa voices !
2. You already have the production tools to hand via the oasys and there fore the superior programming, sampling, sequenceing and sythesis aspects of the PA2X over the Tyros 3 is of no additional benefit to you. 3.The availability of free and commercial good quality yamaha styles far out weight those available in the Korg range.
If you did not have the OASYS and you wanted to get under the hood of an arranger rather than just plug in and play i would be guideing you to the PA2X.
Just so you know , i own the korg PA1X and even if i were offered the T3 as a straight swap i would not. In terms of creativity and producing your own music as you imagine it, the Korg PA line really cant be beaten by any other manufacturer.
But head to head in terms of pure sound quality and realism particularly the guitars, saxes and brass , for me, yamaha has it all.
I hope this helps

Thanks for your comments.
There are a plethora of T3 postings on youtube and the sounds are amazing.
Similarly www.korgpa.com has some amazing demos of the PA2X pro also.
Few more questions.
Do you know sound quality wise are the Tyros D/A 16bits like the Oasys or 24bits?
Will there be a problem wishing that the T3 should have had 67 keys like your PA instead of 61? (even though left hand mostly does 1-3finger chords)
Some people are commenting that the Drums are poor on the T3 compared to the Korg. Any opinion?

forget the DA specs. Trust your ears. You already have the Tyros 1 so if you have not been limited by 61 keys in the past it wont limit you now.
f you get a chance listen to a T3 live. The drums ae fine. The only difference is that the PA keyboard line are built for live performance in every aspect hence the sound is set up to sound live and in your face. The T3 for all that it is capable of is still designed for the home user and for home use . Most home players are used to the sounds that come out of their CD player and the T3 sounds are geared to sound just like that . But you can tweak the drums and mess about with the EQ so its not a deal breaker.
the pa2x has 76 keys
Either instrument , you will love but if w are talking about simply the quality of sound, as much as i am a korg fan through and through the yamaha wins it in my ears. Your ears might tell you different
