Purchasing my first synth (Any help appreciated)

Hey everyone-
My birthday is coming up and my dad says he is willing to purchase a synth up to $500 dollars for a gift. I produce electronic music. I currently have a korg electribe emx1 and I want something to compliment it. My sound is similar to Deadmau5, but I am looking to head in a dirtier sounding synth comparable to Boyz Noize and Justice. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thank you!

You should buy some more tribal ESX.
Say that 10 times fast.
Your tribe is incomplete with its soul mate sampler.
Seriously, you need a sampler. If not the ESX, then a KP3, a used MPC1000, or an SP-404 or SP-606.
By the way, your EMX can probably do all the synth sounds you want - but a sampler lets you do them ahead of time and use them live while your EMX is free to do live synth stuff.
After a sampler, you can get a synth like the R3/Radias or X-Station, but right now you have a lot of synth in the EMX, so you don't gain a lot by adding more synth. Samplers, Romplers, and Effects are the way to go. You might also check out the Kaossilator, which is one of the most fun synths for under $200.

I'd seccond what XML guy says.
Get a sampler, obviously the ESX would be easiest for you to use and synchronize, already owning an EMX.
If you're looking for something with some keys, I would recommend the R3 (or better the Radias if that is an option), or for more traditional and acoustic sounds (as well as some lovely synth stuff), something like the MicroX would be great, although that doesn't have a sequencer....

I'm also a big fan of Justice/Boys Noize-esque sound. The Micron delivers, but I also use a casio SK-1 (the legendary lo-fi 80s 8-bit sampling keyboard - cheap on Ebay) which sounds dreadfully good with effects from a KP3. Otherwise think about something like an old Juno or any one of those old analogue things. Also I see you have a laptop, so you might think about the Korg legacy, which is really fun bit of kit - and you can sync it, unlike most of my suggestions.

You could get a used Korg MS2000b for less than $500. It's a great synth for electronic music. A buddy of mine does electronic using a monome and KP3 and he picked up the Radias and it has greatly enhanced his sound.

I'm wanting to create the dirtier electro Boys Noize and Justice throw out as well. I'm getting a MicroKorg for it, and Ableton Live. I know that Gaspard and Xavier use a MicroKorg in their studio and they used it during their A Cross the Universe tour. It's about $400 so i would get that and something else. Sorry if I wasn't that much help ;/
PS, I'm from wisconsin too. Do you do any gigs by Appleton?
