Hello All,

I have FINALLY got my nanopad to be recognised by my computer (Vista 32bit). I have installed the Korg USB MIDI Driver Tool.

My nanopad appears under device manager and says it is working properly but when I goto to the Editor it says "not connected" and when I try and open up EZ Drummer and add midi device it says "Midi device not found".

I know this question has probably come up but I have searched and searched for an answer to no avail.

Someone PLEASE help me I would be very grateful this looks like a super piece of kit and would love to get started with using it as soon as possible.

I've had that problem with the NanoKey...it usually runs ok with Reason, but from time to time the PC does not recognize it. What I have done and seems to correct the problem, at least for as long as I do not turn off the Pc, is to disconnect it and connect it into another USB port.

If not, I'll suggest you try it on a Mac. All three of my Nanos work fine with my Mac, both in Reason and Logic. If this is the case, maybe your PC has got a problem. I had one Laptop, fortunately gone, that recognized Nanokey only the first time I pluged it in and installed the driver. Never again was I able to get it working.

I seem to be saying this all the time, but it sounds like this is likely to be your problem. installing the tool/driver is not enough. you have to associate the driver with the device because windows tends to think it is the wrong kind of device (i.e. right name, but not a MIDI device).

you have to go to start > programs > KORG > Korg USB-MIDI Driver Tools > Install Korg USB MIDI Device

run that utility, its quite simple on what to do.
Now windows should have the right driver for the device. I don't know why Korg decided to do it this way.

Like some printers, I think the KORG driver in windows only associates with a certain port, so if you use a different port for your device, you may have to run the utility again

I have a different issue with my NanoPad and Editor. Will i be able to hear the sound of each pad just by using editor or do i need some kind of software? Because i wanna change some notes from some pads and so on but i cant hear anything. Thanks.

The Kontrol Editor will not produce sounds - it's just for transmitting settings on your nanoPAD. If you want to hear sounds, you'll have to hook it up with some sort of host DAW software. HTH

Oh alright. Whats a cheap but good software that lets me assign notes to each pads or even parts of songs to each pads? Thanks.

Well, you're not assigning sounds/songs/samples to the sounds but rather assigning certain notes or CC#'s to the pads that your software then interprets and uses to trigger certain functions. Some of the more popular titles are Ableton Live, Steinberg Cubase, Digidesign Pro Tools, Cakewalk Sonar, Apple's Logic Pro, etc. Any of these will do, it's just a matter of your personal preferences and what you're looking to accomplish musically.

Oh. But how did this person assign parts of songs to some of his pads?

You may be saying this all the time, but, that does not solve the problem. I have done exaclty that, installed the device with the Install Korg USM MIDI Device app. It doesn't work.

Same here - only the Korg utility shows the device, no other application does and the Korg editor does not connect.

I'm just saying that because it does seem to solve 95% of all the driver problems. People overlook it because it isn't obvious that you need to run the utility and click 'install'. If you've done that then there are other problems.

Most notably, you've probably hit the windows 10 device limit.
you might think you don't have 10 MIDI devices, but every time you use it on a different port, windows will install a new driver for it, just like it does with printers.

I know this is an old post but the problem goes on for many, like me, but after a year I finally got mine sort of working. what I finally figured out was on the one part of the computer that showed the Nanopad as being there, I should have written it all down so I could tell you where this was, instead of bumbling through it I guess, what I did was to right click on that line where it was listed as being there, unlike the editor that said not there nor installed, and a small box opened and the choice to install was in it, I picked that, clicked on it, and it actually installed it into the computer. None of the other installs from the included software took.
And then it worked, sort of, the latency is horrible, my only choice to change it is from 30 to 100 and all produce realy long delays. Anyone know how to get it lower than 30?
