Recently my 8 has started freaking out and playing a single stereo output down 2 channels. After 20 or 30 seconds it changes to another 2 channels. Then plays down 4 channels. Then plays the bass out of one channel and the highs out of another

Anybody else heard of this?

My firmware is upto date and I am running standard Mac CoreAudio drivers.

Is it time for it to go back to Korg?

i had some freak happenings such as these
i worked out as audio I/O "sound card" issues
it was in the serial numbers of 400"s
and along with some other issues
the unit went back within the one year warranty period
and was replaced with a unit in the 1400"s serial number
that works perfectly every-time



other than the one outstanding issue (on all units)

and other "mistakes" in design (my opinion)
such as the "digital mixer" pre amp output "hiss" issue
and the none assignable cue channel (on a sound card?)
all of which it seems will not be dealt with

i would sent it back with your particular description
are you talking strait up midi control, digital path,
or are you using an outside analogue source?
either way........i think its all digital at some point
mine was doing stuff with nothing plugged into it.......

It happens when i play audio from my Mac. And it happens in both Audio, Audi + Midi and full Midi. But only out of channel 1 2 3 and 4 the other four channels are unaffected.

Seems like a sound card issue to me, but i will test it on another Mac in few days.

If it still does it, it is going back to Korg

PS Serial number is in the 1200s
