USER BANKS AND LIVE PLAYING???????????

Post by GKHALO »

Does the M50 Allow you to create a bank of your programs to access easily and quickly for live playing? I cant find the info anywhere and im looking to buy one, but if i cant do this i wont be buying one.

You can save a program or combi in any slot you like. I believe there are some extra, unused slots; even if there aren't, you can rearrange things to get the order you like.

You can also create new categories and sub-categories. This has been discussed here before ... Try doing a search for 'favorites' .. The idea is to create a 'favorites' categories and then put all your favorite programs there for easy access.

That's the idea. Just as you can call up the 'Keyboards' category and see all of the various keyboard programs, you could have a 'Favorites' category which could contain all your favorite keyboards, strings, guitars and/or whatever .. and put them all within easy reach. A lot easier than having to jump from A022 to C047, etc.

I know you can set up a new category from Global mode .. there may be other ways as well. This is something I haven't done (yet), but which has been discussed here ..

All caps is considered yelling and rude, fyi.

You've got two options.

1) Use one of the category slots (there are only 16 each for programs and combis; on the M50, I don't remember how many of those, if any, are unused with stock presets), dump your favourite programs or combis in that category, and you can easily select from within that category. On the M50, you can see a number of presets in one category onscreen at once, and you just touch one to switch.

2) Reorganize the locations of the programs you want, so that for a gig, you'd start in combi slot A-000 and could repeatedly hit next to advance in order. A-000 might be the verse for your first song, A-001 might be the chorus, A-002 might be the bridge, A-003 is the second song, etc. On my TR, I cleared out most of the stock combis, added my own, and moved them all to the end of the banks of combis (starting at C-127 and working down). When I'm getting ready for a gig, I copy the combis I want from elsewhere on the board to A-000 and up, which also lets me make per-gig tweaks to individual combis without changing the "master" ones and remembering to change them back.

I prefer the second approach, but with a bit of work, either option will be fine.
