My M50 arrived yesterday. I got it physically set up. Today I proceeded to instal the USB MIDI driver and the M50 editor. The M50 installer provides the option to install a VST plug-in and a RTAS plug-in. How do I determine which one I need? Are the plug-ins for use with a DAW? If so I don't have a DAW. Am I all set?
Thanks - Dave

Yes, you are all set if you don't use plug-insDaveMcKeen wrote:My M50 arrived yesterday. I got it physically set up. Today I proceeded to instal the USB MIDI driver and the M50 editor. You appear to be using the correct jack.
Not every pedal is compatible with all manufacturers. It used to be a general split between Roland and Yamaha. I've not had a Korg since the M1 so others on this board can advise better than I can.
I use a Roland VFP1 which I have used for years and it appears to work fine on my M50.
It's the same story for CONTROL (assignable) pedals. For the record, I use a cheap (half the price of the Roland version) Bespeco VM18L which I can recommend. It works for all Rolands and the M50 (at least).

I haven't checked the M50 but on other korg keyboards you will want to plug a sustain pedal into the 'damper' socket.DaveMcKeen wrote:Also I tried to use the foot switch I was using with my D20 as a sustain pedal. I went into global page 2 and assigned the foot switch to sostenuto, but I can't make it hold the note. I have the switch plugged into the middle of the three pedal jacks. Do I need a Korg-specific switch?
