YAAAAAAYYYY!!!
To be honest with you all, before I did the updates and all the free and paid upgrades, I was happy with my Oasys...albeit left a deep trench in my checking account where echos can still be heard whenever I drop in a few nickles or yell, "
Hello",
hello,
hello,
hello....
So then I do the free upgrades and pay for all the other stuff and I couldn't be happier...well...sort of. All of my time in the studio needs to be spent making and recording music. To do any amount of sound programming takes a huge amount of time...at least for me it does. I don't mind tweaking sounds for my own custom touch so guys like you can't listen to my stuff and say, "Sounds like 'Particles And Waves', 'Birds On The Wire', 'Tangerine Skies'"!!!...and so on. But programming sounds and performances is a time consuming and arduous task. It also takes a great deal of knowledge and experience. But keyboard manufactureres HAVE to do this to show what their stuff can do. Besides, who wants a friggin' $8500.00 synth with no sounds included? Yeah, "It sure is pretty.... It sure is quiet." (LOL)
I guess I am saying that I really do appreciate upgrades to the OS and new Karma features, new effects (780? Dang, Korg!!! It's gonna take me three days to check all these out! Seriously, nice work gentlemen.) But it is sound programs for the Big O (no, not the rubber between my car and the road..not THAT Big O) that I have been hoping to see Korg come out with. And maybe they are working on it- who knows. I just remember being elated that Korg released this new upgrade for the M3 right before I bought mine. To tell you the truth it was pivotal in my decision when I was buying an new synth. I was literally within hours of ordering another manufacturers board when I read about the M3 upgrade. (I had already returned my Fantom G8 because I thought for four grand the sounds, overall, were...shall I say, lackluster...and uninspiring.) And I was getting ready to order something else. Anyway, Korg won my business BECAUSE they were supporting their gear and they were doing so pretty aggressively.
Granted, there are plenty of sounds now available for the Oasys from Korg. And some of them you have to pay handsomely for...grrr! I know it cost money to make these sounds. But I didn't pay an extra cent for FIVE HUNDRED extra sounds for my M3!!! Also, third party sounds are out there but there isn't a lot to choose from. But there is no such thing as "too many sounds" for our synths, is there, boys and girls?
So, while I enthusiastically welcome the 1.3.3.3.3.
3.
3 or wherever we are at in the "1.x's" I still am hoping (without holding my breath) that we will see a 500 sound package upgrade for the mighty O. I'd even be grateful for a couple of hundred. Heck, I'd send Korg some flowers for just a few dozen new sounds. I get the feeling I,m.....

<------- doing what he's doing.
From my heart, thank you Korg and Stephen Kay for your hard work. Much kudos you guys. The Oasys is still the coolest synth I,ve owned. (Except for that on I got from Radio Shack when I was a kid. But they're discontinued. Hehehe....jus kiddin'!)
Keep playin and keep smilin.
Best regards,
David
