Korg usb stick

Post by keith-helen »

Hi

I know that this memory stick has been available for quite a while, however I was only recently made aware of its existance.

I am placing this note in case others are not aware of it.

It costs £19-99 plus post and package.

It really is good value for money, the detail on the Korg site does not do it justice, as there are so many styles etc on it.

The trouble with it seems to be that there is so much in the stick that it is stopping me from doing what I should be doing.

I have shown the site address.

korg.co.uk/news/news_2008_08_18_01.asp

I have no association with Korg, just in case you think I have

Best wishes

Keith Lawton

PS Rob , I havent forgotten the project you were doing, I was waiting for the response to the enquirey from Lee re the spreadsheet.

Hi Keith. Thanks for posting the Info. Just one question re the styles. Are there many [or any] song specific [named] styles included? :)

usb stick

Post by keith-helen »

Hi Keith

There are so many styles I realy cannot answer as I havent been through them.

However in the song book there are hundreds of songs with SETTINGS/STYLES/ACCOMP which have been applied to styles which have been named and therefore become specific.
As I understand, it has been covered in this forum and on the dvd's, that the information provided by Korg in the songbook contains the information to set up the keyboard to play the appropriate song. i.e it is not a midi file(copyright etc)

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

Hi Keith L,

Is it possible to purchase this online? If so can you please provide a link.

I followed your earlier link but could not find anywhere on the Korg UK site where the item could be purchased online.

Many thanks, Michael

I think all of these styles can be found on the koRGPA.COM page,
they are just collected into one in here.

Guys & Gals - please check this out carefully before buying.
It is a USB stick for PA2XPro, PA800 and M3.

The only thing quoted as "new" is the songbook. I suggest contacting Korg UK and asking for a specification of its contents.
There is no suggestion that there are NEW styles so I recommend that you obtain some confirmation.

Nedim has stated that it looks like a collection already available on the korgpa website - if this is the case, then it is a very expensive "songbook".
(there are over 180 free quality PA2Xpro/PA800 styles already available on the korgpa website - if you do not have them already - get them - they are excellent)

I am not saying "don't buy it" I am recommending that you check out its contents first.

Cheers

Hi,
The USB stick contains complete new (and many very interesting) registrations based on the following books,readily available from most sheet music suppliers;
101 Hits For Buskers Book 1 (Green Book)
101 No one hits for buskers (The Red Book)
50 Rock and Popo Hits (White Buskers Book)
Film Themes (EasiestKeyboard Collection-20 Themes)
Abba Gold-Greatest Hits (Easy Play 272-19 Songs)
The above registrations are all compiled by well known KORG demonstrator and WERSI concert organist BRETT WALES.The above are included in the new song book found on the USB stick on separate custom lists.I have been using it for 9 months and consider it great value. Also on the stick are I SERIES styles and many manuals and operating systems etc.The new registrations are a breath of fresh air.

Thanks MACG

So I assume that the songbook entries rely on the default PA2Xpro styles/sounds etc... and do not reference any of the new styles from the KorgPA site?
And I assume Nedim to be correct in that there are no "NEW" styles (i.e. not already available?

Thanks for this information - it is extremely helpful - pity Korg UK didn't describe the product a little better.

Cheers

What kind of a bad commerce is this by Korg ? How is it possible that this is not very known and made clearer ?

Strange that one needs this forum to discover it, while the korgpa.com site is not mentioning this (at least somewhere clear).

Thanks for the hint !

I just ordered it.

Seems Korg UK is fond of creating these things - sometimes they appear to be quite autonomous - remember the PA1X performance diskettes ???? Then there were problems with the diskettes data after the OS changes... do Korg UK keep in touch with Korg "rest of the world"?

I am wary of these "UK" add-on products now. I agree - stay with http://www.korgpa.com and you'll be safe.

However, thanks to those for the feedback on this latest USB deal - I would still like to know about its contents in more detail. So far it would seem to have an excellent modified SONGBOOK - is that it? If so, that is way way too overpriced for me - it would cost me about $60-$70.

If it really does have some "Korg quality" new styles on it then it may be worth getting....

Again, thanks for any info...

Cheers

Hi Pete,

To elaborate on my previous posting,it is pretty much essential to have the above mentioned five music books to make best use of the USB stick. As well as a new song book, each music book has it's own custom list,so all you have to do is look up the song from the book, call up the appropriate custom list and select the song-or select the song from the custom list and find it in the book. Each selection has the usual four variations, fully programmed with new and very interesting voice combinations-it is almost like having a new selection of styles. You can look up the content of the music books on AMAZON or any of the large sheet music retailers.

There were no new styles. The main feature of the stick was the songbook with all the songs from the abovementioned "fake books" set up with registrations,(although a few were a bit...odd for the song in question).

It also included the latest OS and resources, all the available style packs from Korg, the Songbook Editor and the other software available for use with the PA series.

Oh, and you also got the thumb drive ;)

Yesterday I received the stick ! I haven't tried it, but I am already happy, since it is a KORG-usb which looks pretty cool instead of a normal USB.

I can download the info on my Korg or PC and use the Korg USB for future so already I am happy :)
