I apologize for asking another question so soon but have no other option as I simply cannot find any answers.

Problem: I am trying to assign chords to each of the 8 pads and can only assign chords (or notes) to 4 of them (1,2,6, and . The remaining pads simply do not respond and the chord assign switch does not turn off after I press these pads. No chord or sound is apparently being assigned for some reason.
I do hope there is a simply answer. Thanks, much appreciation for any help given.

Problem solved...a replacement

Did you have trouble with these pads playing the chords pre-assigned to them, or just assigning your own, new chords?

The reason I ask is that several people have found issues with the pads when they first get their M3's which can all be solved simply by running a pad calibration function (Global P0, drop down menu, Pads Calibration).

If you had already ruled this out then I apologise in advance, but this info could help others having to send their M3's back and losing some enjoyment time

The pads on my Korg M3 had apparently "stopped working" after I completed the OS2 Expanded upgrade last month.

It was like the pads were "sticking" and playing intermittently. I was searching on the forum about any issues raised about the pads and I found several threads discussing lubricating the pads with oil or talcum and other threads saying that the pads must be re-calibrated after running the upgrade.

Anyway, re-calibrating the pads fixed the problem I was having on my M3 and now they are perfect.

I would like to know from NormKorg if you tried the Pad recalibration procedure before exchanging your keyboard?

Hi Rob, after doing everything that a newbie like me can I decided to take the board back. That option existed and the return option existed after calling the store. They had a few in the warehouse with the Expanded option and I decided to take it back and actually check the pads in store before receiving the exchange board.

When I returned I read the responses relating to calibrations but I'm actually pleased that I did the exchange. I have an upgraded board (the last one may have been stored away in back for months for all I know).

Not sure if I would want to keep anything that didn't work 100 percent the day of purchase. If the pads on the other board require calibration, well, they shouldn't as a brand new item.

In any event, all is well now and it's good to know about the "calibration" thing if I run into the same problem with this upgrade.

One more thing, I REALLY appreciate this forum, as a newbie it's really refreshing to know that a sounding board exists from clearly proficient people who clearly are willing to help out the newbies like me.

One more thing, I have the upgrade tools to version 2 now but fear doing anything until I learn a bit more about possible problems. The board, as is, seems to work fantastic and the guitar sounds I'm getting are way way more than I anticipated, so I'll just have some fun with it as is and if I get brave I'll do the upgrade with the supplied usb loader.

My new M3 is now doing the same thing again and I tried the "calibration." The message I received after touching the center of the pad softly and pressing "done" I received the message "can't calibrate."

This is clearly a problem as it is the second keyboard that is doing exactly the same thing.

Please help!

Problem solved, I read the directions incorrectly, touching one pad at a time rather than every pad and then pressing, done.
