M50 OS and Editor versions 1.1 now available

Post by jerrythek »

This new OS brings the M50 ready to work with Stephen Kay's KARMA M50 software, adds 700 effects presets and contains a few small bug fixes.

Note that the OS is another 2-step process and there are different versions for 61 and 88 key models.

Thanks Jerry.
This is very good news. I'll make this a sticky topic.

thanks for mentioned this, just updated my M50.
It would be great if the whole sequencer programming could be done in the pc editor, with a piano roll, a bit like cubase.
Is there a change this can be done?

You can already do this, I think. Do your editing in Cubase, save a MIDI file, and load that into the M50. You could also use MIDI to hear the M50's sounds as you're editing.

Yes,, you got it! Use Cubase, that is the ticket for detailed "What you see is what you get" midi note/sequencing editing.

Really, for what the M50 is, it has a sweet "little" seq. editor. For serious editing, nothing beats Cubase!

to do the whole proces in cubase and then copy it to the m50 is to much work, special if you had to do much editing work afterwards (I am never satisfy with my work)

the best solution would be straight in the korg editor and direct comunication with the M50 hardware.,

Well, you might as well forget Korg being able to incorporate a sequence editor into the M50 or M50 editor as sweet as the one in higher end Cubase or Nuendo.
To upload a sequence from Cubase (at least SX3) to the M50 is a VERY simple task.

Your asking to much out of a $1000 work station.

What version of Cubase are you using?

Oh ya,,, already does! Just pour 4 cups of water into the SD slot, push the coffee grounds into the 2 audio out ports, shake your M50 well, then just plug it in!!

I think I read it in the M50 manuals on page 3!

Let me know how your coffee tastes!

700 effect presets?
Wow, this deal is getting sweeter and sweeter :D
What types of effects are we talking about here? Is there a list somewhere?

Each effect has now some presets to choose from, very useful. :)

Hi Jerry,

my two cents for the editor, i would really apppreciate if newer version will include also a patch librarian utility so that ti would be possible to open in the editor two PCG file (e.g. one from M3 and one from M50) and quickly copy program/combi from one to the other and so to rearrange simply program/combi position (bank/number).

PS: please put also in M50 the Favourite Patch selection as implemented in the X50 ...

one dumb question:-
Is the OS upgrade available only for the 61 keys and the 88 keys? NOT for the 73 keys?
