After updating my Pa2xpro with OS2 and sitting down and exploring the keyboard, it feels like a totally different board. It feels more stable, more refined, and the sound quality seems very crisp and clear.

The changes to the Styles are stunning and I like the way Korg has remapped the styles. The new Blues Ballad is awesome. The board seems to be more inspiring to me.

I have not refined the DNC voices as yet, but I have played with them and the potential seems very useful.

Congratulations to Korg for a job well done! You've done a great Job.

Thank you, Thank You, Thank You to the programmers, sound engineers, the testers, and the entire Korg Team. This update is very much appreciated!

Just a terrific job.

Bro, take it a bit down...dont get too excited yet. And people should stop
opening trillions of posts about OS 2.0, everything will get lost and mixed up
noone would be able to find anything. Yes, very magnificent, they took the
most important function away and what makes those synths the best and thats
using User Drum Kits with Factory Drum Samples but i guess none of you
needs that, pay 2500$ for a machine that you just turn on and thats it.

Hi Al,
I must have missed something in the OS2 update...are you saying there were modifications to existing styles? I'm not talking about the 26 new ones..the existing factory styles? Blues Ballad is an old one ( I think?) at least it's not on the list of new styles....

Maybe I mssed something or is this an undocumented update to the styles?

I must admit I have not checked out any of the old styles as I thought they were unchanged.

Thanks,
Lee

Mate, if your not happy with the update what is that got to do with me or anyone else?

The things that impress you maybe don't mean anything to anyone else, it is personal taste.

MrKorg, you are wrong, this is not about opinions and impressions again,
please, its about a Mistake in the OS that doesnt actually let you use it.
Dont mix Opinions and Tastes with Mistakes, i like the new OS and what it
offers but i dont like the fact that it stops me from work. What bugs me is
that most of you say OH ITS GREAT and none of you actually knows what
the OS does...then i am the SINGLE voice in here fighting to get a Mistake
repaired and with only One voice Korg wont do nothing...but hey, i gotta
live with it, cant do anything about it. I hope Lee is actually gonna start
using his synth soon and actually do Something with it then he can help
and join Me, Rob and few others in here which actually do something with it.

There goes Mr positive again...go ahead and pull my post. Is this board censored or what?

Out of the box, most people will NOT be loading custom samples as drum kits? Why is it you can't understand that? It's actually causing more problems with freezing and mis-use giving the board other issues and perception problems.

Cheez, why don't you just take the air out of my sails..Thanks a lot!

Nedim,

Are you sure there is no way around the drum samples?

Yes Thank you Korg

Thanks Korg,

for getting it out prior to the 30th November much appreciation.

Mr Korg,

I think what Nedim is saying, before the accolades start flowing through members and users should take the time to understand and use all of the newer functions and properly evaluate the whole OS2 before they start jamming up the threads with amazements and so on.

I'm glad its through, I'll spend a couple odf weeks evaluating, and then I will comment. I think this is fair to Korg also, as I'm sure the last thing they want are miles of accolades, then not so happy posts from the same users, that then understand something is not so good, after a suitable time, for what ever reason, it just gets messy, if you are going to comment, try and make it balanced ie love the new styles, dont like the what ever, can we do this next time, you get the drift

Its not about Sampled Drums, they all work fine, to understand me better.
Existing User Drum Kits from before that were based only on Factory Drum
Samples now dont work anymore cuz the Samples in the new OS are all
displaced inside the ROM so now any style that you have based on USER DK
from Factory Drum Samples wont work anymore. There is not a workaround
it, it has been confirmed by 20 users, it is only on PA800 and Jerry already
forwarded to Korg Italy for check up. My whole point is that people on this
forum should actually learn something about their synths instead of only
turning them on and become more active when we need things, where they
can actually know and prove what they are talking about, thats all.
Its not about personal opinions and tastes.

As RoKeith says, moderation, i might be overreacting to few things but naturally
we all know that overreacting can be mostly due to unsatisfaction not the oposite.
And i hate when i see people here jumping with AMAZING, MAGNIFICENT,
THIS and THAT! Why??? Cuz i actually know something about it and its far
from magnificent...very far...if you place a Boeing 747 in front of me it will
be VERY MAGNIFICENT to me but i have no clue about that thing, its Pilot
might not share the same thought as me cuz he KNOWS the thing.
I hope you understand me now, i hate when people make something
that its not what they say it is, its not fair to other users that actually use the
machine and know it better and actually cant use it as they supposed to.
What happens then? Instead of Korg listening to 2-3 users like me who actually
know the machine will listen to 2-300 users like KBKR and ignore the problems.
Do you now see where i am coming from?

Note:
In the meantime while i was writing this i got confirmation from 2 friends
that the same thing happened on PA2X, most of the people that confirmed
including me reinstalled and formated the synth at least 2-3 times.

Nedim,
Your points are very well taken. and you are right IMHO. But remember we are also having fun here...it's OK? to be a little amazed even if later we do have some issues/suggestions for improvements and even may find a bug or 2.

Oh, by the way a 747 (especially a model 400) is VERY MAGNIFICENT and amazing. Being a pilot (single, multi, CFI, commercial (never flew for $$ though) and having 12 hours simulator time at Pa-Am Miami a few years ago...on a 747-400 WOW what a airplane she is. A real baby buggy to fly and especially land (full autoland system if you want to use it).

I have sympathy for both viewpoints. Yes the DNC sounds and styles that use them are great and a number of other new facilities are very impressive. As I said elsewhere I was also very pleased to see that Korg have made some changes to make style writing easier for people to do.

But the novelty soon wears off when you have a business to run and you discover that for example in Nedim's case, user drumkits from all your commercial files no longer work. This sort of thing would be easy to fix with a librarian/ file manager for the user files. But Korg have for the last year not responded to many requests to publish the file encryption/ compression details.

So, as well as the accolades from many performing musicians, the accolades must unfortunately be tempered by the continuing disappointment from people trying to use PA2x or Pa800 in a recording studio business. Although it was originally my intention to develop many styles and user sounds for the Pa2x and Pa800, I changed my plans because of these various "broken linkage" issues typified by the latest problem faced by Nedim.

I think it unlikely any recording studios will develop styles and sounds and new samples for the Pa2x/ Pa800. This is because the situation with broken links and inability to merge user files makes it unsupportable.

If anyone thinks there is no problem, then please explain how you merge together and load two files containing styles, sounds and samples from unknown sources? What is the probability that something on your keyboard will not work afterwards? Would you buy such a collection from a recording studio? Whose fault is it when parts of the collection do not work? Would you buy anything from that studio again?

So, my conclusion with OS2 is that the icing on the cake is very nice, thank you Korg. But it would be better if the icing was applied to a cake that was not inedible.

Best regards,
Rob

I can confirm problem on pa800, i installed 2.0 and 1.60 three times one after another and resaved my set also that much and it's not working as it should. Everything else is great but 99% of my playing is based on user DK so this is a problem. For now only solution is to redo around 15 DK note by note or (since i don't have time) to go back to 1.60.
