Well, different than in the store & manual. Locking up

Post by StudioMan »

I turn it on, and it say "updating left panel", then "updating right panel". Comes on and locks up within maybe 15 seconds. I have reset it 6 times so far, still locks up every time. Won't even allow me into the global settings.
In the store, the display model worked perfect! So simple to use. This one (Ver 1.0.1) is having serious issues right out of the box...
Or, am I somehow doing something wrong?

Power-on now, just says "updating left panel/updating right panel, COMPLETE, Please turn off the until"..

Has ANYONE seen this? Brand new, in the box, factory seal..

Any ideas?

Korg Tech support

Post by StudioMan »

Well, it's a problem. They want to replace the unit. They say "No way to fix it"! So I am SOL for the weekend,, and there is snow up to my a_s,, and no new keys to play with as I had planned..

So, it came with ver. 1.0.1,, Messing with the unit, I got it to boot up and got into the Global, upgraded to ver.1.0.5.
Acting how the ones in the store acted.. Maybe I fixed it?
Well, it's working, but I guess I will still get the exchanged for another new one in the box.

I saw a guy who seems like a major Korg exc.,,, What is your opinion? Think this one is going to be ok, or should I do as tech support advised me and take it back and have them replace it?

I hope this info. helps someone else!

They say "No way to fix it"!
So why do ponder over keeping it?
As long as they're going to replace it, go with that. :)
Just make sure that in the update process, you don't have anything plugged
into the machine like midi cords or pedals, and follow the update instructions to a "t".

Sorry to hear that you may not have it for the weekend, but if they want to make you whole
with a new unit, go for it.

i think you have been unlucky and got a damaged unit someway.

i boutgh mine about 3 weeks ago with OS 1.0.1 installed and worked correctly. i updated it first to OS 1.0.3 and now to OS 1.0.5 and never had any problem.

so i believe that replacement of the unit is the best solution and that the bug you experienced were something beyond a simple bug in OS.

Just get the replacement and chalk it up as a rotten egg. Sucks that you won't have it for the weekend :?
