Hey everyone, hows it going?

Has anyone had much experience with the korg service centre?
Ive had my ESX for a couple of years now and every now and then get some knob jitters on a few of the pots.

I have a pretty important gig with my band in just under a month which i know is not long at all.
Does anyone know wot kind of turnaround from when i send it off to when i get it back is? i could just call and ask a few questions but im at work at the moment so thought i'd ask you guys.

oh! also obviously it is out of warranty now so does anyone kno how much they charge? obviously its dependant on wot work needs doing but im hoping the only major thing is the pots.

never sent anything away so im not sure about the turnaround. it will be about £40 though.

I phoned and ordered the pot ( knob) ... and a spare for around £10 including delivery, then soldered it myself.

if you cant solder then maybe you have a friend or family who can... and is competent... the tricky part is removing the old one though

Yeh im competant enough at soldering but i think i'd rather have this done properly, its pretty integral to our live performance and rather not risk it seeing as tho im skint and cant afford another one, lol and that there harder to get hold of now.

I'd be willing to spend 40 quid to get it all spik and span again, its just whether it'll be back in time.
It 'works' fine at the minute but im just scared that whatever can go wrong will go wrong at this important show.

Anyone else had any experience with it?

you probably do not want to send it in due to the fact that they take their sweet time fixing them. I heard of a guy on here actually where he sent in his electribe and it didn't come back for almost six months.

What you want to do is to take it into a service center that is local to you and call them before hand and talk to them. Most of them will have a parts list that you can get from them which has the part numbers for the parts which you can then order from korg before hand so you have them when you come in. This would probably be the fastest thing.

Talk to Novatron on this forum, PM him, he had to do this sort of a thing because his mute button was going out so he has a parts list somewhere.

In fact once you have the part, you could just take it into any electronics repair shop. It would probably be cheaper.

Think i'll do what you said but would'nt mind sending it in anyways at some point for a general service, but SIX MONTHS! thats ridiculous.

well why not order as many spare knobs as you need, remove the pcb, then take them to a decent hi-fi repair shop explaining whats needing replaced.

if you want to replace all the knobs + encoders - thats 20 at £2.00 a part but more for encoders + engineers time... you would be cheeper buying a new pcb for about £85 - thats the whole board with slider/encoders/pots attached.

I need a new pcb because 2 of my step keys are slighty fkd

I would give you £40 for yours as is and you could buy a new one for £45!
