instead of starting a new thread i bumped my first post on here and changed the title of the old one...
(NEW POSTS AT THE BOTTOM ignore this first post)

i own an sp 404

and an old korg ER-1...

i got the sp as my first drum machine this summer to screw around on.. later (like a month or two ago) i got the ER-1 also to try out since i liked screwing around on the esx and em1 at guitar center and sam ash but didnt want to drop the full amount...

anyway i really like composing beats on the er1 (more visual sketch pad style where you can see whats going on) way more the creating blindly on the sp404.. i like how the sp has a lot of adjustments and stuff to change on the fly but i REALLY like the visual beat layout of the korg style step sequencer a lot..

ive picked up on a bit of the problems of the esx1 and er1 (although it seems a lot more people have the fuse issue on the esx1) that i never heard about except on this forum... is it really as big as an issue as ive picked up on or no? ive seen lots of cases on here where people complained about blown fuses and lots of problems similar on the esx...

im a regular on sp-forums.com and no one at all has these issues with the sp or mc series so it seems.... was it a first batch thing or what with korg?is it really as big of an issue as i have picked up on or no?

please let me know... i was really set on the korg style of production until i heard of the issues people were having here with electronic issues that are not creative control related...

(sorry for the long first post)

Yeah, the blown fuses crap scared me off from buying a used one, coulda saved 200 bucks but whatever...

I just hope my fuses last till they come out with the esx-2 someday!

It sure would be a shame if they never update the electribes and let roland corner the market for these kind of sequencers.

yea i donno about the roland thing...

i started screwing around making beats this summer and got the sp404 as my first sampler...

its interface and workflow suck compaired to the electribe i own.. everything seems way more natural and layed out in front of you... i have that er1 from the photo and was able to go into guitarcenter and make a beat within moments at guitarcenter on the em1 and esx no prob... the mc 808 was there also and i had kinda thought about going that direction but its almost twice as much and the workflow is a lot like the 404 (both from what i saw and what ive read) i fooled around for a few moments and went back to the esx... granted im def a beginner and dont know that much about music production... but for an amateur who just wants to make music to jam to.. i think the electribe is better suited..

you may well be able to sequence the sp404 from your electribe you know!
