I want M3 v2.0 features!!
Usually, the features of a flagship product such as the Oasys finds it way into cheaper workstations, such as the M3 and the M50.
But when I read the specs for the 2.0 upgrade for the M3, I couldn't help but wish that it was the other way around for once!!
1. Effects presets! Readily choose from a large number of presets.
2. Velocity meter! Superfast way to see what tracks are actually playing in a Combi or in Sequencer mode.
Surely this couldn't be too difficult to implement for the Oasys?...

Ditto!
There seems to be a lot of time and energy going into every other workstation lately, and no releases on the O for a year now.

Let's hope that all a lot of effort was put into the M3 v2.0 and the M50, and that the great engineers and programmers that were busy beyond belief on those projects now are free to work on the Oasys!!lcmorley wrote:Ditto!

I personally would love the new Drag and Drop features on the touch screen. That would make the workflow a great deal easier I think!

The thing that has annoyed me mostly is that during the past 6 months or so, the M3 has had 512 new programs, now the expanded M3, and also the EX-PCM's.
I am not against M3 users getting extra functionality, as with the O, it will always need new development. It is just that the M3 seems to be getting a lot of the limelight lately.
I just wish that Jerry or Stephen would confirm if there is anything in the pipeline for us O owners.

Me too, but as you know they won't, and for a good reason.lcmorley wrote:I just wish that Jerry or Stephen would confirm if there is anything in the pipeline for us O owners.
I'm fairly confident though that we'll see something nice for the Oasys in the not too distant future.

I don't want to start a long debate but I find all of this moaning incredible. The OASYS is vastly capable as is. Have you explored all of its current features and applied them to Earth-shattering new compositions; and have therefore run out of all new options and hence need updates?
Any arguments of dissatisfaction because Korg aren't delivering a constant stream of new goodies is to me, utterly superficial. They already gave you something FAR more valuable - a stunning, flexible, incredibly professional, no-compromises suite of synthesis engines, sample sets, real time controllers, Karma, wave sequencing, vector synthesis features that are not available anywhere else. We have a unique musical tool set upon which to stretch our musical imaginations.
The challenge is not to sit and wait for the next spoon fed update - what's the point in that? You'll then be dissatisfied in another 6 months. How can Korg ever respond that that? I know there are a myriad of desirable features outstanding, but surely the challenge is to use these features in music that's worth writing, in ways that only OASYS can deliver. We literally have at our disposal the most sophisticated and integrated set of electronic music tools provided in one package in history (perhaps with the exception of the Fairlight) - and all you can do is moan that there are no more updates.
I'm sorry, I know I'm lecturing you; but I'm tired of the moaning about the demise of OASYS and of the upgrades to M3, which frankly, is simply not in the same ball park. Sell OASYS, buy M3 and then you'll realise the capability under your fingertips when you had OASYS.
I would love every new feature you want - and more. I don't think Korg are saying to themselves - "let's not, out of spite, deliver any new features for OASYS". I think there are more earnest, commercial realities causing the slow down in deliverables. Selling synthesizers is tough - Yamaha have bailed out of the market altogether - and most synthesizer companies go under. So I think Korg have been brave in releasing OASYS and supporting it this long; have more than demonstrated through Jerry, Dan and Stephen how committed they are to their passion; and deserve a lot of real praise from us and from the industry. I suspect it'll be a long time before another wonder instrument like OASYS comes our way.
Kevin.

Moaning?.. A bit harsh, don't you think? I just aired some of my wishes.I don't want to start a long debatel but I find all of this moaning incredible.
I know this, that's why I bought it.The OASYS is vastly capable as is.
Of course I haven't, that's practically impossible.Have you explored all of its current features and applied them to Earth-shattering new compositions; and have therefore run out of all new options and hence need updates?
Again, that's why I bought it.We have a unique musical tool set upon whcih to stretch our musical imaginations.
I was going to comment on this, but for the sake of peace, I won't.Sell OASYS, buy M3 and then you'll realise the capability under your fingertips when you had OASYS.
They truly deserve praise, and I among many others here have given them the very same in numerous posts. So I think Korg have been brave in releasing OASYS and supporting it this long; have more than demonstrated through Jerry, Dan and Stephen how committed they are to their passion; and deserve a lot of real praise from us and from the industry.
Listen Kevin, apart from the lecturing tone and slightly patronizing attitude in your post, we think the same: we're lucky to own an Oasys, and appreciate this fantastic instruments capabilities. But I think you're misdirecting your anger. This wasn't supposed to be a "moan" post, it was just a wishful remark.
Believe me, I'm as tired as you are of people dismissing this instrument on thin grounds, and as I recently wrote in another post: don't buy an instrument for what it could be, but for what it is. I did that. Which doesn't hinder me from writing about things I'd like to see in the future.

And as fate has it: my Oasys is powered up and ready to go!!

Yes... If the big O users were upset with the Drum Track feature, and also the M3 sequencer with its Cue lists and its 480 ppq resolution; now they have to see this XPanded M3 update, and yet take a seat and realise their "top of the line keyboard" hasnt got any af this to date.MauroR wrote:I'm really angry, piano roll on the M3,
and the Oasys?
where is the Open Architecture? I could spend my money in a different way.

After all this time for the user community requesting those XPanded features for the OASYS, If Korg does not implement all that included in the new M3 OS:
The Sequencer Piano Roll facilities and upgrades,
the Track View Screen w/ "touch-drag” techniques,
MIDI sisex editing,
those fantastic Velocity Meters in Sequencer and Combi Mode,
The 700 Effect Presets, etc;
in their OASYS "open architerture" and "Flagship Korg Instrument best keyboard ever ",
and they dont do it soon...
....I´m afraid Rome will burn...
...once more.

Regards.
