padKONTROL-sound distortion - pop's & feedback!

Post by Marvel »

Greetings all.

I have had a padKONTROL in a box for a year now.(disgraceful i know)
I have been getting my head around Cubase and making tunes to good effect.
I feel it's time to move a step further, and get more into the drum side of things
The Korg padKONTROL is really something i hope to master, i feel it would be amazing for live performance..
but first things first..

I have recently installed the device, drivers etc with success, to run with cubase sx3.
I can see the the padKONTROL in my VST instruments list as "DRUMMER"
The only thing is is that, when i play the machine, it's just too loud, distorting, and popping. Turning the volume down on the machine does not make a difference.
I'm really stuck, and it's driving me nutz
If anyone can help, this would be most appreciated.

Well it shouldn't be the pad kontrol doing it because it doesn't make any sounds it's just a controller.
I could be the driver, have you installed the latest one? While your at it you could try the latest soundcard drivers.
Are you on a slow system? the usb might be drawing too much power and slowing things down Or it could be your soundcard overloading if its onboard.
Have you got anything else that can use the Padkontrol? If you test something like the demo of ableton live with that on your system and it distorts then you know its something to do with the padkontrol if its ok then its a cubase issue.

Sorry I can't be too much help I haven't used cubase for a long time.
