Zero 4 - master out to firewire

It took me a few hours to figure this one out.

According to the manual, the master out of the Zero 4 should be routed to firewire audio ports 15&16. However, nothing was coming out. Easy check: start Audacity, record all 16 channels, and watch the tracks. Out of the box, only channels 1-8 are responding - they contain the pre-effect, pre-eq input of the four stereo channels.

However, i got it working now. Open Zero Edit. What I saw, was a picture of a zero 8 and settings of a zero 8. Enable Midi from the midi menu. See the picture changing from a Zero 8 to a Zero 4. Close Zero Edit.

That did it - at least Audacity and Ableton Live see everything as the manual describes it. Apparently my Zero 4 shipped with the presets of a Zero 8 - before and after a firmware update, even.

Korg may want to check if that's true for all Zero 4s; if so, it should be easy to fix in the production line ..

having written all that, the master output volume seems pretty low though. On my mac, I can fix that using the Audio/Midi setup utility, ofcourse. But should I ?
