Had a tribe emx from the start

I love the thing, the automation is my fav feature, great acid sounds too, remember to add some noise to get that analogue filter sound though

My biggest hate is that shitty verb...I find my self having to use mod delay to add space ..alot :/ and noise, but hope new tubes will sort that.

One thing the Rolands have is that great efx section..I run my emx through my sp808ex all the time..which has unquestionably the best efx section on a groovebox...the efx section is identically to there flagship MV series. So there is a tip if you find a cheap sp808 on the bay. Vocodas rolands lush verbs and space delays etc..even mic modelling too.

The drums on my are great but I always end up using up 2 parts to layer the kicks to get itto punch through, and find I use up at least three drum parts to layer snrs and claps to get the snr I need.
But hey I have an analogue drum machine, so that is not a a biggy....roll on the Linndrum2 huh.

But with the live automation you can get some very original synth parts, and that is what I dig most about this machine.

Now I just need to pimp the tubes, make that new skin for it and get tweeking again.

I am getting back into my hardware and forghot how much fun this box is.

I just cottoned on to what copying pattern while still playing means and it's really sped up my workflow with the MX. Kudos to Korg for the thought they put into these boxes. The tubes make a big difference but i'm still not sure bout the fx.

As realtime instruments they are excellent. I was looking for this type of workflow for a long time. Go go korg electribes!

I'm thinking about getting the kaossilator next to sample into the SX,that would be sweet..

i have done what you are thinking of doing..



getting a kaossilator and using the esx to sample it is unbelivable....i spent a lot of last week doing this and over the weekend...its so much fun.

id highly recommend it,as when you sample the kaossilator,you can apply resonace,cutoff and EG int,along with modulation and all the fx etc etc..


the possibilities are endless,and its made me think that the kaossilator is not nly for "music on the fly" but its a very powerfull tool that can be sampled no end...

Sounds good but how do you sync the kaoss. to the SX? Or do you just sample voices? I was thinking it would be perfect to capture loops on the fly as you can't save stuff on the ks...
