I pretty much use Sparkie's method except I don't use any soap and I use hot water. The key is to dry the surface as quickly as possible so you don't leave any "streaks."

First and foremost, keep your hands clean before touching your gear. That's one of the biggest culprits in dirty equipment.
Second, keep your gear covered when not in use.
Third, if you do have to clean your gear, try to remove as much dirt or smudge marks as you can with a dry micro fiber cloth first, then do as suggested. Use warm water and very mild soap and very little of it and make absolutely sure that the cloth is completely wrung out and not dripping and that it is only slightly damp. Clean a small area, then use a dry micro fiber cloth. Follow this till the unit is clean.
I also use dry brushes to get into the cracks and crevaces before damp cleaning and occasionally light vacuuming (make sure loose knobs or controls are off first).
Cheers,
Eric

These are very soft bristled paint brushes and as I said, I only use them in the cracks and spaces between the surfaces that a microfiber cannot reach. I should have clarified that. Scrub brushes just won't do obviously.

I use a microfiber brush too as dust remover for pads, buttons and knobs. Got it with some LCD cleaning set. Can only recommend.
I clean the rest of the "oversensitive" m3 with water and a microfiber cloth. Dust covers is a good point too. However I use textile poster flags from my favourite bands for my KBDs

C'mon Eric. Confess!! Someone already saw you outside in the backyard washing your keyboard with a garden hose sprayer!! You gotta stop eating pancakes w/maple syrup in the morning on top of your keyboard!EJ2 wrote:These are very soft bristled paint brushes and as I said, I only use them in the cracks and spaces between the surfaces that a microfiber cannot reach. Oh, no way! That was my alter ego, Tom Sawyer. I never touch his brush. They're full of lumpy white wash.sparkie wrote:C'mon Eric. Confess!! Personally I find it ridiculous and a bad decision that srufaces on synths are that fragile!
Look at camera gear for 1500 euro and above, splashwaterproof, and talk about abuse in the field, they do take a hammering!
My Roland XV-88, which I payed top dollars for when it came out, looks like a piece of s**t, and it was never on the road. The brown ~ish surface just peeled and is damaged all over the place, looks as if I would have had it in 45 degrees celsius straight in the sun.
I have not taken delivery of the M3 but I nvest in a dust cover, because this really pisses me of. It is easy to build gear sich as this like a tank, and the wee little more money involved does not make it THAT more expensive.
Looks like all this applies mostoy to newer gear, the Korg Wavestation SR that I sold to Sharp looked nearly like new out of the box when he got it.
Ah well, then again, I must say, my Karma looks like new as well!
Hope this is not a biggy with the M3, but anywyas, I never liked the design from day one, but design and color choice is not the reason why I buy it anyways! Although I must admit, I would probably love to give it a new casing if that would be possible, in the same quality and color like the original burgundy Karma.

Some good point, totally agree. I wish the M3 could have a titanium surface as the one on my laptop
Just exagerating ... actually I would already be happy if it would have a bottom plate (M3-73) at least covering it, and no pads sticking, vanishing button text ...
IMHO the engineers did a great job with the m3, within the musical aspects. But in my opinion they could've done better -being one of the top3- when it comes to built quality. I'm sure I'm not standing alone with my opinion.
However, have fun with your new m3 ! It's a great synth.
