With my ESX kick drums have to go in part 1,2 or 3. If I use any other part (have not tested it on keyboard part, or stretch part) I get a click when triggering the kick sample. The kick plus at least 2 other samples have to be triggered on the 1st step for this to happen.
So here is an experiment for you if you want to try it.
1. select a sample (a sustaining one like a piano or something) for part 1 and have it trigger on the 1st step of the pattern.
2. do the same thing for parts 2 and 3.
3. use the cutoff knob to cut most of the high frequencies so the samples are just audible.
4. select a kick drum sample and put it in any of parts 4-7b and have it trigger on the 1st step of the pattern. Start with the cuttoff open and gradually cut high frequencies.
Do you get a nasty click when the kick is triggered?
Now mute the kick and go back to part 1 and change that sample so that the kick is playing in part 1. Make sure to open the cuttoff and mute the other kick drum. Presto, click gone. I don't know if this will be able to be reproduced with other machines but it is consistent with mine. Bottom line for me is Kicks alway have to be in part 1-3. I don't know if people knew this already. I didn't

It may be, I don't know. Until somebody tries to reproduce it on another machine. Oh and I have the latest OS.

mayber theres just an ugly offset on some of your kick drums so that when you are using the Choke parts (6a/6b/7a/7b) it results in a click..?
to make sure its not a sample that is at fault.. solo one of the upper parts with a kick and adjust your amplitude envelope (not Gate) and start time.. if the click still persists.. try switching to Sample mode and adjust the start and endpoints on the sample in question while auditioning with the Play button.
unless these are the default kits, i would first assume its a problem with a sample or fx/env settings..
try creating a new pattern and init everything..clear all the sound settings, clear motion, part, etc. and start from scratch.. see if the problem still persists.
i doubt this would be a per-machine problem because the sample playback routines are all software driven off the os.. theres nothing really hardware envolved here outside of user error or sample issues that could create the problem. if it was a playback routine issue on the OS it seems you should see the exact problem on all the parts (or at least 1-5)..

It is definitely not the samples. or the choke parts (i didn't know thats what there were called) because i can get it to do it putting the kick in part 5. I'm not using any effects on the parts. So it can't be the effects.
also once i copy the kick from part 5 to part 1 the click is gone. if it were the sample it would click when triggered in part 5 or part 1.
I doubt that it is machine specific to. I'm thinking that they'll all do this. I think its a bug.
easy one to get around, just put the kicks on parts 1-3.

i havent been able to recreate this.. have you double checked your os? maybe the last upgrade didnt go through for one reason or another even if it appeared to (actually.. i've been curious myself, is there a way to bring up the OS version on the korg, some magical keypress or boot?).
if you're already on the latest and try an upgrade, it'll tell you that and cancel the install. tho you probably did this already..
i've only had the latest since i got it so i can't make any claims about the others..anyways, i just tested this out for you with a few different samples across all the spots and i havent noticed any persistant clicking issue (all i've got are my own imported samples loaded atm tho.. if that makes any difference)
