Stopping the Harmony Track playing PA1X Internal Sounds

Hi,
Ive got notes on track 14 channel 14 driving the harmoniser in notes mode.
How do I stop these notes playing internal sounds other than setting the volume to zero or assigning a blank patch to channel 14. Is there any other way??
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,
You need to set the channel volume to zero. It is the only way. Setting blank patches will work if you ONLY play the song on the korg, but if the file is ever played on another synth, it will usually automatically play whatever the default sound is on that channel.

What happens if you mute track 14 ?

Good thought Rob, that would be a way around it although muting the track will only apply to all songs if you save it as a global song setup, not on a song by song basis. Which may work for the OP.
Personally, I find it much easier to just zero the vol in the midi file (done in a sequence program or on the pa sequencer)...once done you then never have to worry about it. And you can then have it as a song by song setup.

Hi
Thanks for the replies people!
If you mute the track it wont trigger the harmoniser.
If you set the volume to zero that works but you are using up notes from the polyphony
If you set it to an empty patch which is what I have been doing it wotks and you dont lose polyphony
I just hoped there was some switch or other that disconnected the harmony track from the sound generator which would have been a logical inclusion in my humble opinion. But from your replies it seems that the above options are the only ones available

Dave,
There is - its called "mute track", it stops notes being sent to the harmoniser and uses no polyphony.

Hi Rob,
I know, but my point is I want the harmoniser to be triggered but not the sound engine. Seems an oversight that you can't do that except by setting volume = 0 or using an empty patch

Not every keyboard is perfect,. sometimes you have to use workarounds.
It's just the way of it, not ideal, but what are you gonna do??

Dennis,
Yeah it's not a problem I just thought someone with more knowledge of this board would know another way. I haven't had it long so my knowledge of it is still at the bottom of the learning curve
So I'm at the stage of trying to pick other peoples brains.

Hi Dave,
Let's assume MIDI channel 5 has the chords you want to use in the Harmoniser but not the sound engine. Have you tried this (I'm reading My Pa2x screen at the moment so apologies if it's slightly different on Pa1x ... ?
On Global -> MIDI -> Midi In Control, the Voice Processor Midi Controls section, assign Midi In Channel = 5
On Global -> MIDI -> Midi In Channel, make sure Ch05 is set to "Off" (ie no track assigned)
Write Global -> Midi Setup
What happens?

Ok, try this instead:
Song Play - > Menu -> Preferences -> Track Settings
Set Harmony to the harmony track
I'm not sure the notes will not also be sent to the chord recognition unit as well, unless ... investigate using a custom MIDI Setup for Song Play mode, see pp 173 and 221 of Pa2x manual.
Write Global -> Song Play Setup

As I said at the top of the thread Dave, blank patch or zero vol the track, are the only ways.
I have been using a PA1x on and off for three years, and I have never found any other way to do this, and I use harmonies extensively.
