Post by Smartgirl »

Hello!

Im a newbie to my new Electribe gadget, say no more! And im a bit stuck already!!Im trying to create a long string note but all i can get is a blippy sound when using the relevant instument. And i cant seem to change octaves either so i end up with an 8 bar blip blip blip in the same note  Im probably not doing something soooooooo simple, but as i say the entire idea is new new new to me!!Im used to normal keyboards!!Ive twiddled knobs and pressed buttons to no avail!

Any help much apprecaited!! :D

A few ways to do it.

1) Put the electribe in keyboard mode and press and hold a note. The left and right arrow buttons then change the octave.

2) Go into the step editor and change the gate times manually

3) Hook up another keyboard via MIDI and use that

You'll need to make sure that the sound you are playing hasn't got a short amplitude envelope or the envelope will end the sound before you release the note.

The note length can be controlled with EG Time knob, AMP EG button and maybe the modulation section if you have set it to control the amp.

Press ther eg amp button so that it is at slope not the square .
set ur eg time hard right n turn ur eg int to a bit to the left n add a little res . simply tap a key once n the note will play for loooooong duration . The tone will last the length of time that it takes for the frequency to go from eg int point to where cutoff is set then drains out . its far better than holding the key on n opens ur mx up to alot more sounds .

Simple really .

record ur playing of the key u want to start with , then go into step edit , press the "keyboard" key so that the light isnt on any more n place the next note that u want wherever i needs to go on the grid ( just push the key and the light comes on ) .
Set all the keys n all the pitches u want and set long gate times within part edit
so that all the notes join up into one long not that changes pitch . Use glide if u need to .

i reccomend this is the simplest way to program this kinda thing . if u want to do it live then u mite need to just play with the transpose while playing .

I hope this all really helps . :D

if your working with the ESX..go into loop mode and make a setting of anywhere from 0 to 5 than jump back into the pattern mode, fiddle with the keyboard section with your chosen sample and mess with the delay setting and switch the evelope from slope to square.
You should now have a long sustained sound.
