Just updated my Kronos 2, all went fine and everything as it was.

Video here showing how to do the update if anyone needs help.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbosMh8csJI

In short download the file and extract the folder and copy to a FAT32 formatted USB stick (format USB Stick on the Kronos to be safe and select FAT32 and Full format or Quick format), then copy the files on your computer in the Kronos update folder to the root (the first drive folder on USB stick when opening the USB stick) of the USB stick.

Insert USB stick in Kronos, then go to Global Mode and use the right drop down menu and select Update system and follow the on screen instructions, when it says restart, power down the Kronos wait 30 secs and then power back up and you will see while it loads back up the system is now 3.2.1.

It appears it's just the OS. To get the new sound content, you have to buy them on shop.korg.com

I'm wondering, anyone notice anything new in the new OS? It only mentions the EP I Early Model... does the system work any better? Any major reason to upgrade?

I will probably wait until November to see if they run their annual 33% off sale for the new sound pack. I'm still pretty satisfied with what the original Kronos 2 gave me.

(These forums are cooked, it’s just taken me 15 minutes to login, so I appreciate the probability of a reply will be similarly linked to the ability of others to login!)

Since downgrading isn’t possible, can anyone confirm if the bug with onboard help not rendering correctly has been fixed? The onboard help makes extensive use of the Unicode ellipsis character, and in many recent versions, it doesn’t render at all, making it difficult to read. I think some quotes also didn’t render correctly.

It was annoying enough that I have held back on upgrading — and yes, I reported the issue to Korg.

Thanks!

Hi Folks,

I upgraded my Kronos 1st version with no problems. So far I haven't located the 'Tine E Piano Early' patch. Where is it hiding? Or is it a separate download?

regards

Jeff

Found it. Just in case anyone else needs to know. Go to any E.Piano program, touch the picture & the various E.pianos available show in a list. The new one is at the top.

For those who decided to go ahead with the 3.2 update, once done go to the KSC Auto-Load tab and add the amounts in the three colored (blue/red/green) boxes. What is your sum ?

Thanks KEYponderer,

This confirms that an older Kronos on which the latest OS update is installed ends up with about the same RAM amount as a stock K3. This is important for users/owners of older Kronos as they initially have around 1960 MB.

So the difference is taken by the new OS and also probably by the new EP-1 piano model. Korg is not mentioning this important info on their 3.2 upgrade document.

So to all owners of older Kronos who want to install the 3.2.1 OS, make sure you are OK with losing some of your user RAM before proceeding.

I am considering installing Kronos System update 3.2.1 on my Kronos 2 and if it's really worthwhile or not? I don't seem to be bothered by the bug and have no need for the Tine samples.
I have watched a youtube video on someone with a Kronos 3 & a 2 comparing more gigabytes after this update and they seem to suggest it being the same as a Kronos 3 now. I can't see how this is possible? It sound from the forum message like you lose more Ram when you update and I can't see gaining what I think was 104 G?
Can anyone tell me if you do gain any data space?
I really don't want to mess my OS up if I don't really need this update especially since I will have to do 2 Kronos's.

Also, do I have to get any previous updates to do this last one? I am still on 3.1.2, only just noticed there have been others.

Also considering if getting a 3 is worthwhile as I would still love to be able to install and load all my EX's sound samples and never have enough space or Ram? I know the SSD is bigger on version 3, but will I be able to load/ install more large EX's? I have way too many samples due to the sound library sales and want to have them all on my Kronos's but they don't fit! I made sure I didn't buy anymore in the dec sale, although was still temped, lol!

I havn't been on here for ages (my Moog Muse keeping me busy), thought the site had gone forever, so glad it's here.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE! Hoping it will be a better one.

Once again, this 3.2 update WILL install the new EP-1 piano whether you want it or not, therefore you WILL lose the optimal RAM amount you have right now since the new EP-1 piano needs some resources. Also there is NO way back or downgrade, unless you restart from scratch which is a rather annoying process given you have a complete backup and you are at ease cloning sector by sector, etc.

Also, an OS update doesn't miraculously add space on your SSD, whatever you saw on the video you mention. Finally, this update will NOT install the new K3 sounds, unless you want to pay for the ridiculously expensive package. So proceed as you wish, but don't expect false miracles. On the contrary, you will have even less RAM to load/play your numerous libraries.
